Very Cool Desktop Facebook Chat Client – Chitchat

Don't forget to share

If you use Facebook chat often then you might want to think about downloading ChitChat – its a cool free Facebook chat instant messenger (IM) that allows you to chat with your Facebook friends from your desktop.

The great thing about it is that you don’t even have to open Facebook, its right there on your desktop at all times, like Windows live messenger, (MSN) in fact it is very similar. Its stand alone so you don’t have to even open your web-browser.

Chitchat has been around for about a year now, so they seem to have ironed out any problems that may have arisen.  Where as I still have a problems with using the Facebook chat system, which is that it logs me (or the person you are chatting to) out halfway through a conversation.  I haven’t had any such problems with Chatchat.

Its so easy to use, I don’t think it needs much explaining, you log in with your Facebook name and password and you are away – all of your contacts instantly appear. It shows the online people with a green dot and everyone else with a red dot.

Chitchat also notifies you when your contacts come on or offline and when someone chats to you.

Other features are

  • Bold type
  • Underlined type
  • Emotions with just a click
  • Post to a contacts wall (right click on the name, see screen shot)
  • Send email (right click on the name)
  • Show chat history (right click on the name)
Chitchat also supports keyboard short cuts you’ll find these in preferences with lots of other goodies.

I have enjoyed trying out Chitchat, the more I use it the more I like it and I think you will too. Download Chitchat the free Facebook Client now.

I don’t see it anywhere as a mobile application yet, which is a shame, (correct me if I’m wrong) there appears to be an app in itunes with the same name but its not linked to Facebook.

Thanks to Colin “Fatreg” Brooks for letting me use our interesting chat about the snow in this blog.  🙂

Update: I’ve already had people thanking me for this post, as they didn’t know about Chit Chat and are now using it.
