Clever Facebook 7th Birthday Scam

By |2017-02-08T01:20:23+01:00September 10th, 2011|Categories: Scams|Tags: , , , , , , |

Facebook users are  being lead to believe that they can get a free pair of shoes as a special gift from Facebook as a birthday celebration. To redeem your gift all you have to do is verify your Facebook account by logging into Facebook mobile. There is even a video showing you how to do this to make it seem even more realistic and because it is quite tricky to find your facebook mobile email.  You then have to complete a survey (which is how they earn their money)  This should always be an alarm for users, surveys on Facebook are usually dodgy. Another alarm for us, is that you never get anything for free - free iPad click here, how often do you see that, do you click it? Free shoes? No pictures or sizing?  Apparently there is also one of these that has free T-shirts. If you do this you have allowed the scammer to use your Facebook account and post status updates or upload videos to your profile as they now have your facebookmobile email address, which is what this [...]

Twitter News – Activity Arrives and A Hack Attack

By |2017-02-08T01:20:26+01:00August 24th, 2011|Categories: Social Networks|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

Twitter news... You may have heard that Twitter has launched another change on Twitter.com; I'll keep this brief as you will see for yourself soon enough. Activity  This shows favorites, follows, retweets, and more by people that you follow - this is next to @mentions, which now has your @name and retweets has gone  - this is being rolled out slowly as not everyone has it yet. I'm not sure about the usefulness of this yet, it makes it harder to see your retweets - but at least it is on another page and you have to click to see it.   One thing maybe to remember is that everything you do now, show's up in picture form for everyone to see, well maybe not EVERYTHING :) Some people are loving these new changes in Twitter, but some say its ruining what we once  had, simplicity - I do have to agree.  I wonder what your view is, do you like these changes from the #oldtwitter to the new? In other news...... New Phishing Attack There is another new Phising [...]

By |2017-02-08T01:20:27+01:00August 21st, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , |

We are seeing these words too much on Twitter at the moment - I've been hacked! Be warned - The Twitter make money fast scam hacks your account This scam or variations on the same theme is still going around Twitter, its been floating around for at least a month now so its spreading viciously. How I made $$$ working from home Make money working from home Working from home leads to shocking money results How I got rich on Twitter These appear in your DM (Direct messages) from friends, so you think that they are real - and after you click them to see what it is, it starts sending out DM's to all of your friends, and before you know it people are telling you, that you got them hacked too.  Followers are likely to unfollow and blame you for this. I must say that is so easy to get sucked into clicking these things, as they are from friends and we'd all like to make a fast buck, but there is one thing to remember, if it was legit [...]

Double Whammy hack today – Spider Facebook Survey Scam and Bad thing about you on Twitter

By |2017-02-08T01:20:30+01:00July 23rd, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Double Whammy Scam today... First up  - Facebook There is a link appearing on twitter titled Omg Spider Under The Skin with a blogspot link, my friends have told me that they are seeing this so much on Facebook that it is getting annoying -  so its going viral - god knows why because as usual who on earth wants to watch that. ewww. Its a another survey scam ! It first takes you to an age verification page, when you click this it shares the page to all of your friends. Next, you will be taken to a survey that promises that you could win gifts if you take part, you don't, you just are paying the scammers for filling it out. If you have clicked this then, remove all evidence of it on your news feed, and put out an apology saying it is fake, so no one else clicks it.  Then check your likes page and remove it from there, and I'd even change your password to be on the safe side. If in doubt - DON'T CLICK ! Twitter - [...]

Warning! Twitter Scam – Is this blog about you?

By |2017-02-08T01:20:31+01:00July 16th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , |

There is another Phishing scam going around Twitter.  This is similar to the "Is this you in this picture"  and "Is this you in this video" You get a DM asking Is this blog about you with a link - here is the one I revived today. People are saying that when you click the link it takes you to a twitter log in page, it then takes over your account and sends out DM's to your friends from your twitter account. Think before you click! The danger is that these DM's are from friends and you don't think about it when you click as you wonder - ooh am I featured in a blog? If you have clicked on this, you need to change your password immediately and try to warn the people that you have DM'd not to click the link.  I sent a message to the above account to tell this this is happening, as that is the other problem, you don't actually realise right away that it is happening. Update - I've also received the "This gotta be you in [...]

Facebook Scam – Google+ Get Invite

By |2017-02-08T01:20:31+01:00July 13th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Surprise, Surprise -  there appears to be a few fake Google plus invite pages flying around facebook at the moment offering immediate access to Google+ who's social network is currently running in beta with a limited amount of people.  I say that but a report from Mashable says that  there are now more than 10 million google+ users. Every now and then Google opens up the network for a little while so that you can send out invites and people can accept, but its not for long and if you miss it you have to wait for the next one, when two come a long at once, oh no - that's buses sorry. This  facebook page hasn't been around for very long but already it has 30k likes - I read some of the posts on there and one person said, Oh no this is a scam, can I still have a google+ invite though ? There are hundred of comments giving out email addresses (nice) for anyone to see, I didn't "like" the page but I could still see everyone's [...]

Is this you in this picture ? Twitter Phishing scam!

By |2017-02-08T01:20:31+01:00July 9th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , |

This is an old MSN scam which has now reached Twitter - the MSN scam was  trying to get  your credit card details and any other personal details, so I'm a bit wary of this one on Twitter. Its spreading fast as you can see from these Tweets ..... Its coming through as a DM from one of your friends, which makes you think its real - but its not of course.  When you click it, it Dm's your friends. Don't click If you have then check your approved applications and remove anything dodgy looking -  change your password and do a scan to be on the safe side. I will let you know more, when I find  out more information. In the meantime, better to be safe than sorry and do the above. Hope this helps

Facebook Scam – INCREDIBLE This girl is rapped in the school buss

By |2017-02-08T01:20:32+01:00July 9th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , |

This is just gross! (the idea of it, not the video, as there isn't one) This scam is exactly the same as the last one I posted about, girl leaves her cam on - why anyone would click this link is beyond me.  Although the picture is of a naked woman maybe people assume its just porn, however it does warn you of disturbing content. Seen on Facebook today I'm not sure if its spelt wrong on purpose - trying to do teen speak - or if its the bad spellers from the last few similar scams. Obviously you know by now you aren't going to see a video - you will be asked if you are over 13 to play the video and then you will post the message above to all of your facebook friends so they can see that you liked this! Survey Scam Then it will load up a survey scam .... this is the reason for the scam, they scammers want you to complete the survey because this is how they get paid. Do not [...]

LOL this girl forgets to turn her cam off – Another Scam on Facebook.

By |2017-02-08T01:20:37+01:00July 7th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , |

I will be brief as I don't want to bore  you - its the same old thing... This girl doesn't forget to turn her cam off at all - its a scam. Clicking play on this link will post message to all of your friends saying that you like this, tricking them into thinking it is real. Of course it isn't. Survey Scam The link actually takes you too a survey scam page, like we've seen before on recent scam pages - completing this survey pays the scammer and that why they do it. Never do these survey pages, and never download anything from these links - you will get nothing in return apart a virus or some sort of malware. If you have clicked this, make sure you remove it from your Facebook wall and warn all of your friends that it is bogus. If you've gone further; scan your computer and maybe even change your password to be on the safe side. Think Twice before Clicking! Always be wary of links that offer something free or sexy or is popular [...]

Facebook to start charging – spam spreading again.

By |2017-02-08T01:20:37+01:00July 5th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , |

No way! Since the beginning of this year there have been various rumours about Facebook charging as from August 2011. There have been groups started up and posts shared. This week we are seeing another type of  hoax viral message circulating Facebook that reads... This looks like the old chain mails you used to or maybe do still get reporting that Hotmail are going to start charging unless you forward the email, and of course if you forward, you won't get charged.  Yeah right.  Same thing here, its saying that if you share this message your icon will turn blue and Facebook will be free for you. This just wouldn't happen. There has been no reports that Facebook are going to charge, and in the Telegraph today it says that Facebook has denied claims that it has plans to charge. Besides after the launch of Google+ this would be a very silly time to do it. Don't fall for it, and don't copy it and paste it as your status. Hope this helps Photo from - http://www.flickr.com/photos/mugsy/358778610/
