The HugTrain launches its own mobile app to Hug it Forward

The Hug Train Launches its own app This day has been talked about for a long time, its emotional!

At last The HugTrain launches its own mobile app on Android and iOS – well, iOS is waiting to be accepted but I see no reason why it won’t be!

This is a great way that we can use technology to boost our well being and happiness and to connect with people –  Its just amazing to me that The HugTrain can help people all year round now.

What is HugTrain

If you know me, you know I’ve been a little involved with The HugTrain – (see Who needs a hug)  since I met founder Arie Moyal and have tried to help out, as there are many things that need to be done before Arie even gets on the train, this year HugTrain was acquired, which has given Arie the extra help that he has needed at last.

The HugTrain is now in its sixth year – every year for six years Arie has been travelling around Canada and America giving hugs.  We all know what a stress the holidays can be and some people do not have that support system around them and need to know there are people that care. HugTrain gives people the message of love, through hugging, real touch , which we don’t get on social media where people tend to go for help and engagement when they feel isolated. Hug Train tries to break down this social isolation.

Its been said that  “We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.”  There are all kinds of scientific facts for this which is why Arie has made “Hug it Forward” – or “Free Hugs” his mission every year for 6 years.

What is important is the work that Arie Moyal and The Hug Train are doing, to not only help people, raise money and awareness for mental health but that its not only once a year now, that finally The HugTrain launches its own mobile app on Android and iOS very soon.

Now you can get your hugs via your app – at first the app was used to see when the HugTrain was coming to a town near you but now you can use it to let people know that you are available for hugs and to ask for hugs, hopefully we can build up a secure network of people that can support each other in difficult times, without fear of being a burden on others or being afraid to ask for help.

The HugTrain launches its own mobile app

Based on hugtrain.org’s free hugs movement, HugTrain is an app that connects you with friends and neighbors that are nearby in order to exchange a hug.

The app allows the user to activate a 1-hour “HugTrain” which lets people nearby know that the user is readily available to give or get a hug! Users interact through the app by messaging each other.

Studies show that we require 8 hugs a day to attain complete emotional wellness. HugTrain’s mission is to offer a different perspective on the world by facilitating the exchange of hugs and mental health support using technology.

Hug it forward!

What is the Hug Train?

The HugTrain is a rail trip organised by Arié Moyal, taking him around the USA, spreading holiday cheer and raising funds & awareness about mental health one hug at a time! This year, the fourth annual edition will take place from December 24, 2012 to January 7, 2013 in honour of the victims and survivors of the movie theatre shooting in Aurora, Colorado.
