Blackberry down for 3rd day – USA join the club!

Blackberry users are still suffering with a lack of email, internet and BBM messaging!  Users in Europe, Africa and the Middle East have had to endure these outages for a total of THREE days, some of which was intermittent.  However, the drama just increased furthers as now we are hearing of user in America losing services as well.  Americans on Twitter seem to be in shock that they have no service on their Blackberry even though this has been going on in other parts of the world for two days.

PerezHilton is not pleased as we can see from this tweet.

And Kourtney Kardashian said….

Rim – Research in Motion has issued the following statement regarding the outages.

“The messaging and browsing delays being experienced by BlackBerry users in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Brazil, Chile and Argentina were caused by a core switch failure within RIM’s infrastructure,”

“Although the system is designed to failover to a back-up switch, the failover did not function as previously tested. As a result, a large backlog of data was generated and we are now working to clear that backlog and restore normal service as quickly as possible.  We apologize for any inconvenience and we will continue to keep you informed.”

Although Blackberry understand that problems can happen, they cannot understand, why it is taking so long to fix, or why they cannot be told how long it is going to be down for.  I assume this is because they just don’t know.

In the meantime this doesn’t look good for RIM who’s shares fell abruptly yesterday – after falling all year.

Hopefully this will be resolved soon, before users get really annoyed and get themselves down to an Apple store for an Apple iPhone 4S.

No, they wouldn’t do that – would they?

Hope this helps.

Blogger down for over 20 hours – ITS BACK!

Updated below.

Blogger (blogspot) announced 12 hours ago that after the downtime they had yesterday from 10-11pm that they had for maintenance there were issues found, so Blogger will be going in to read only mode. So they obviously unearthed some serious problems, are credit cards involved? I’m intrigued to why it would take this long to sort out, aren’t you?

Why is blogger down, some people thought it was because they were updating the site with the redesign but blogger are posting messages like this on there Twitter site.

@QMI_RSS We were not rolling out the new UI, but instead conducting a routine maintenance.

On the 19th of April we saw a blog from blogger stating the New UI will be

…. available to our loyal Blogger users as quickly as possible. We realize there might be some ‘rough edges’ (see this page for the known issues) but fear not, we’ll be continually updating and improving the experience until it’s ready to graduate from Blogger in Draft. Our team is also very eager to hear your feedback, so please don’t hesitate to let us know of any bugs or suggestions by clicking on the “Send feedback” link in the navigation bar (or directly on this form).

The last message we saw from @Blogger about the downtime was that …..

We’re making progress and hope to be back soon. Blogger will remain in read-only mode until work is complete. Sorry for the pain

I’ll say something for the Twitter account for Blogger it has been trying to apologise to everyone that comments to them, which is more than Playstation has even tried to do.

So we are playing the waiting game again …….  Hope its not too long for you guys.

9 hours later, and still Blogger is out of action.  This is what the website shows.

Blogger had to remove posts and comments made since the previous maintenance to fix this problem. The last posts of the Blogger status and Twitters @blogger states that they have started restoring the posts that they had to remove and expect Blogger to be back to normal soon, this was posted at 06.07 PDT  – over 3hours ago.

People on Twitter are really getting frustrated now and some are talking about going over to WordPress – see the hashtag #blogger.

Is this you?  How much longer do you think that you will wait?

Let us know your thoughts

18.09 GMT – Blogger appears have returned, lets see if its all working……

Itunes down – Getting tired of these problems!

For the past hour or so people on Twitter have been complaining about iTunes app store being down, this appears to be world wide.

Is it to do with the iTunes update 10.2.2?  I was hoping that was going to sort out some problems, not create more.

The only sort of confirmation that seems to have been received is yes, iTunes servers are down and they are trying to sort it; will be for down for about another 90mins. Thanks for that Apple.

However, for some services  have now been resumed, like mine, we noticed first when we were trying to download some apps and the waiting message hung there until it told us that the app could not be downloaded.  Other apps just stayed on the waiting message and we left t hem until they eventually downloaded about an hour later.

Do you think its a bit strange that the down time came at  around the same time of this tweet about Skynet “queue the spooky music”.

Why the downtime and for so long? For some its been two days –  I don’t know. There has been a lot of problems with iTunes  lately and I for one am getting tired of it. This isn’t going to go in Apples favour with lots of new smart phones coming on the market now.

Sort it out iTunes!
