Save Stargate Universe

The popular science fiction television series Stargate universe has an enormous following which is demonstrated by the 54k likes on the  Save Stargate Universe fan page . The page was created when fans found out via NBC from Syfy in December that  MGM would not be picking Stargate Universe up for a third season, and that the last show would be in Spring 2011.

There is also now a brand new fan page for the UK – Save Stargate universe UK page and in 4 days it has 800 fans!

Stargate Universe is a Canadian sci fi series, created by Brad Wright and Robert C. Copper and has been showing in America since 2009.

Stargate Universe is set on the Ancient ship Destiny, which was launched by the Ancients from our galaxy several million years ago.

[49] Several ships were sent ahead of it to seed the universe with Stargates. The Ancients had planned on using its Stargate to board Destiny when it was far out enough into the universe, but they eventually abandoned the project after looking into ascension among other things. In order to reach this ship, an address would have to be dialed consisting of nine chevrons, a possibility that had been unknown in the previousStargate series, due to energy constraints.[26]

From Wiki

There were even talks of a movie after the series ended on a cliff hanger,  but that was short lived as it was also announced in April at the Official Stargate Convention in Vancouver, British Columbia that there would be no SGU movie.

The number of fans on the Save Stargate fan page has doubled in the last month, numbers are growing fast! Which is absolutely amazing! Will the powers that be at MGM take notice of this and put Stargate Universe back on the screens?

The Plan: Save Stargate Universe

  1. Add a Twibbon to your Facebook or Twitter profile page.  Add a link to Save SGU and “The Plan” in your caption to that photo if you do it on facebook. Example:
  2. Sign the Save SGU petitions:
  3. Email Charles Cohen from MGM letting him know how much you love the show and think it should move networks to get the full 5 seasons.
  4. Email SyFy (if possible, email regularly), let them know how disappointed you are, but PLEASE BE RESPECTABLE, don’t let anger take over your letters:
  5. Leave posts on SyFy‘s Fanpage.  They seem to be completely ignoring all the SGU posts.  Don’t stop posting!  It seems like they’re no longer asleep at the wheel over there.  Read theirFacebook Comment Policy. When you get banned (Not if), you can go and join SyFail(Also founded by Save SGU founder, TheDudeDean) and Banned by Syfy.  You can also try to email Syfy;
  6. Contact ABC, CBS, TBS, USA, The SPACE channel and Showtime (if possible, email/leave wall posts regularly) letting them know how much you want SGU and why.  “As for SPACE saving SGU, right now we are monitoring fan interest, and trying to see what we can do.” -Mark Askwith
  7. Participate in any of the Social Media pranks that I cook up on Twitter, Facebook, Stumble Upon, Digg, YouTube and Vimeo  (no reddit I got banned again).
  8. Email other channels and tell them that SyFy isn’t buying any more episodes of SGU (don’t say it was cancelled):

Wouldn’t it be great if “the people” managed to create such a stir that they save their favourite show.

Power to the people!
