With Valentines day just around the corner you can guess what the hoaxers, scammers and spammers are using to annoy us now.
Promises of finding your valentines or what gifts to get your lover, anything to prey on your weakness is what they are good at.
I’ve seen one person get caught on one so far, hopefully my friends are now taking notice and NOT CLICKING THESE LINKS.
This new one is called…….
Just redirect Valentine Finder.
I’m not sure what it proclaims to do but rest assured all that it does is repost randomly to your Facebook friends so that it looks like you are asking them to be your valentine. That could be quite embarrassing indeed.
Just another Scam, Hoax, or annoying repost.
I’m expecting to see a few more of these before the week is out, so be aware.
From Facebook ….what to do if this happens..
If your account has been taken over and used to send spam, you should follow these steps immediately:
- Reset your Facebook password. You can do this by clicking the “Forgot your password?” link on the login page or by going to the Account Settings page once logged in.
- If you can’t reset your password because the email address you use to log in has changed, or if your account has been disabled, visit our help page.
- Make sure you have up-to-date security software on your computer, run a scan, and remove any malicious files. If you don’t do this, and your computer is infected, your account may be taken over again. If you don’t yet have protection for your computer, you can download a complimentary six-month subscription of McAfee security software. Learn more on the Software tab.
If a friend’s account has been taken over and used to send spam, you should follow these steps immediately:
- Tell your friend to check out this Page and follow the steps above.
- Warn those who received the spam not to click on it, and to delete it from their Walls and Inboxes.
You can find more information on how to stay safe on the Threats and Tips tabs as well as in our Help Center.
I’m sorry if I am starting to repeat myself with these types of posts but people are still clicking and reposting.
Also while I have your attention, and to save another post – please note FANBOX is also a scam and posts scam to your email contacts.
Valentine Heart Drawing by me …… 🙂
I was concerned that I didn’t have the most upto date DirectX and for a moment I couldn’t work out how to check. After the interest in my other “How to” blogs like the YFrog post, I thought that other people may have the same problem, so here are the instructions on how to find out what directx version you are using.
The DirectX technology has grown alongside improvements in graphics processing hardware, so you can get the best possible PC gaming experience on Windows. Windows 7 helps you stay right on top of your game, with the best possible visual effects. With DirectX 11, your warp-speed races and mind-bending, inter-galactic feuds can look incredible. Of course great graphics aren’t all about games. With high-end graphics hardware, you’ll also get an unprecedented visual experience for your non-gaming applications.
How to check what version of Microsoft DirectX you are using.
- Click Start
- Click Run or Search Run and Click.
- Type dxdiag press Enter
And there you have the DirectX Diagnostic Tool
Look at the bottom of the list of specs.
DirectX Version: Mine shows it as being Version 11 – which is the latest version.
Microsoft Download Centre.
HOWEVER …. The first DX11 card from ATI was in the 5000 series.
So you will also in some cases need to check if DirectX 11 is supported by your graphics card.
Thanks to @BartekWodyk who pointed this out.
Hope this helps 🙂

Edit: I’ve had a couple of people ending up here as their flash isn’t working – download Adobe Flash player from the store and you are away.
Update: 24/2/02 Since writing this blog I have had no problems with this Tablet, haven’t had to reset it again, and everything is working lovely, would recommend.

Update, Facebook has now posted a blog
Due to a now viral message, everyone now believes that Facebook is closing down on 15th March? LOL Oh really?
They’ve just got $500 million investment from Goldman Sachs and Digital Sky Technologies but that’s not important right now, apparently its all too much for Mark Zuckerberg and he’s closing down.
Its not a funfair at Hastings that hasn’t been running well for 3 years… its not a Chip~Shop that started selling soggy chips… its not something that Yahoo got bored with… its FACEBOOK!
Its all over the internet now, and of course its just…..
a horrible hoax,
a set of Chinese whispers,
a ridiculous rumour.
This “joke” was apparently started at Weekly world News, who evidently are about as regarded for their news worthiness as the Daily Star.
another headline today on the same page ……..
