YouTube blocks internet grandad for inappropriate content! Peter Oakley aged 83 from Leicester UK; known as the internet grandad and YouTube as vlogger geriatric1927 was invited to a Google hosted event regarding the Sus-IT project which is funded by the New Dynamics of Ageing. He created a video regarding the visit and it was banned by YouTube, deeming it to have inappropriate content. The internet grandad Peter has been a youtuber for exactly 5 years on the 5th of August; when his first video went live entitled First Try. This video has now had almost 3 million views. Peter found sudden fame, when media got hold of the story and he hit the headlines immediately. Peter now has 55.000 subscribers on his autobiograpical vlog for which he currently ranks as the 52nd most subscribed all time in the United Kingdom! On 26th of July a new phenomenon went live - it is called WhoisLive !! For the first time ever, see who is browsing on any Web page. Chat, get tips, share links, and meet new people with similar interests. Use the Web like you always do, only now, see what happens when you can see Who is Live! Is the claim from whoislive See edits below ! After you have downloaded the extension or add-on for Firefox or Internet Explorer (Chrome coming soon, very soon I hope) you can see other people that are viewing that page and chat with them in real time - pretty much like an Instant messenger. Of course the other users have to have downloaded and installed the extention too, so it will take a while to reach its full potential, but it could mean lots of new ways of networking with people. Say you are on a fan page website and you want to ask someone a question without having to post to a forum and having to wait for an answer, [...]
Blogger is google's free tool for bloggers to create their own blog website. It is very simple to set up and you can have many blogs using the same account. Blogger will host this blog on blogspot.com for free. (Which is the difference between Blogger and Blogspot by the way) Its very easy to use, mostly with guides and instructions. Adding pictures and videos is a breeze especially if you use Picasa/ Google Video or You Tube. All free... great huh? so.. Why would you want to delete your blog on blogger or blogspot? You haven't visited it for a year, even though you promised yourself you would write every week, no one is reading your blog or maybe Google just doesn't do it for you anymore and you want to start a fresh with another platform such as WordPress. For whatever reason, you want it gone, forever. Be aware, this isn't to show you how to export your blogspot blog or to keep any part of it, this is to permanently get rid of it. How to delete your blogspot or [...]
Double Whammy Scam today... First up - Facebook There is a link appearing on twitter titled Omg Spider Under The Skin with a blogspot link, my friends have told me that they are seeing this so much on Facebook that it is getting annoying - so its going viral - god knows why because as usual who on earth wants to watch that. ewww. Its a another survey scam ! It first takes you to an age verification page, when you click this it shares the page to all of your friends. Next, you will be taken to a survey that promises that you could win gifts if you take part, you don't, you just are paying the scammers for filling it out. If you have clicked this then, remove all evidence of it on your news feed, and put out an apology saying it is fake, so no one else clicks it. Then check your likes page and remove it from there, and I'd even change your password to be on the safe side. If in doubt - DON'T CLICK ! Twitter - [...]
The Google+ app has arrived for iPhone! Since the Android app was launched for Google plus, we Apple users on Google+ have been patiently waiting (for a couple of weeks!) for an iTunes application, although to be fair it was pretty good using Safari. As far as I know Apple has had it for over a week for approval. Finally it is available for 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4 - Nothing for the iPod Touch, or the iPad available yet! I couldn't actually find it via the App Store from the iPhone yet (it is appearing now under realease date) however Download Google+ for iPhone here using itunes http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google/id447119634 This is a free application and it will be interesting to see, what it will creep up to in the free application charts and how long it will take. Be aware, as I did find another application created by someone else that was 69p Message recieved on - Google+ via iTunes from +Punit Soni We discovered an issue with the version of the iPhone Google+ App that was on the [...]
It wasn't long ago we heard from Lutz security that their 50 days of disruption had ended. However last night we saw them back in action as they first put a redirect on The Sun newspapers page saying that Murdoch was dead, after that the link went straight to @lulzsec feed on Twitter. The first we knew that it was them was a little message from @lulzsec twitter account saying ... After that everyone on Twitter was talking about it, as they are now. We followed the story on The Next Web, with continuous updates - The sun newspaper hacked. News international soon went down, and Lutz security then went on say this is just the beginning. One tweet said - WE HAVE JOY WE HAVE FUN, WE HAVE MESSED UP MURDOCH'S SUN. At the end @lulzSec tweeted So it looks like retirement didn't last long ...........
There is another Phishing scam going around Twitter. This is similar to the "Is this you in this picture" and "Is this you in this video" You get a DM asking Is this blog about you with a link - here is the one I revived today. People are saying that when you click the link it takes you to a twitter log in page, it then takes over your account and sends out DM's to your friends from your twitter account. Think before you click! The danger is that these DM's are from friends and you don't think about it when you click as you wonder - ooh am I featured in a blog? If you have clicked on this, you need to change your password immediately and try to warn the people that you have DM'd not to click the link. I sent a message to the above account to tell this this is happening, as that is the other problem, you don't actually realise right away that it is happening. Update - I've also received the "This gotta be you in [...]
It seems that Microsoft is launching its own social networking site called Tulalip on socl.com - it appeared on the net and was quickly whipped off again. Reports are saying that it was "unintentionally" leaked. Strangley enough you can sign in via Facebook or Twitter - no mention of Google+ though. So maybe its not in competition with the social networks but somehow working along side them as a social search engine, in connection with Bing. Caption reads. With Tulalip you can Find what you need and Share what you know easier than ever. Soon however that was gone, and is now replaced with..... How funny, what do you make of it?
Surprise, Surprise - there appears to be a few fake Google plus invite pages flying around facebook at the moment offering immediate access to Google+ who's social network is currently running in beta with a limited amount of people. I say that but a report from Mashable says that there are now more than 10 million google+ users. Every now and then Google opens up the network for a little while so that you can send out invites and people can accept, but its not for long and if you miss it you have to wait for the next one, when two come a long at once, oh no - that's buses sorry. This facebook page hasn't been around for very long but already it has 30k likes - I read some of the posts on there and one person said, Oh no this is a scam, can I still have a google+ invite though ? There are hundred of comments giving out email addresses (nice) for anyone to see, I didn't "like" the page but I could still see everyone's [...]
This is an old MSN scam which has now reached Twitter - the MSN scam was trying to get your credit card details and any other personal details, so I'm a bit wary of this one on Twitter. Its spreading fast as you can see from these Tweets ..... Its coming through as a DM from one of your friends, which makes you think its real - but its not of course. When you click it, it Dm's your friends. Don't click If you have then check your approved applications and remove anything dodgy looking - change your password and do a scan to be on the safe side. I will let you know more, when I find out more information. In the meantime, better to be safe than sorry and do the above. Hope this helps
