Social networking at its best with Favo.rs

By | December 19th, 2011|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Favo.rs is a social networking platform where users can trade help for free.  Favo.rs officially launched about two weeks ago and as far as I can make out is the work of Adam Rodnitzky, George Aspland and Scott Roberts who are all listed as co-founders. I signed up today for favo.rs and I have enjoyed helping a few people out, and finding out all about it, I think it is going to be a great "help" to all. It is simple to sign up - you can just log in with your Facebook, Linkedin or Twitter and link the others and you simply connect to help others and ask for help. Its a fantastic idea, as sometimes we all need a little assistance, getting that blog seen or a tweet heard, and here you feel no shame in asking for help.  Although most of what I have seen is people helping not asking, I had to look around for people that needed help. When you ask a favor, people can answer you, or broadcast it on their various networks or vouch for [...]

How many views does your blog get from Twitter ?

By | September 13th, 2011|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Picture: Twitter developers Soon you should be able to find out how many views you get via Twitter as today Twitter announce the release of its Web Analytics Tool. We all love data, we love to see how much we are getting, where it is coming from and how long for.  Analytics platforms are popping up more and more each with more or different information. Twitter have been keen show off its true influence since bringing out its own URL shortener http://t.co which automatically shortens links of over 20 characters. They said it was to protect users from malicious sites where you may get hacked or a virus as Twitters link service is checked by potentially dangerous sites.  However we noticed right away in our usual analytics tools that lots of our traffic was infact coming from Twitter, and one of the reasons we knew this was because of t.co. Not a surprise for Twitter. Previous to that we saw that Twitter had acquired BackType who are involved in social analytics, they said then they will be developing tools for Twitter, So that is who is running this show [...]

A Beginners Guide to New Twitter

By | September 1st, 2011|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , |

So here we have a beginners guide to new twitter, for noobs, newbies.  We've all been there, but with #newtwitter I think it is even more difficult than before.  So here are some instructions if you have just joined Twitter. Wow!  You've finally succumbed to signing up to Twitter.com  I knew you would - even though you said you never would but maybe you think it all looks very boring, too complicated, and no-one is talking to you. Yes, its really different to Facebook.  Well. don't be put off by that, it does take a little while to set up and get going. First of all, its a bit pointless doing your first tweet right away.... "Hello Twitter I'm here"        without any followers, as no one can see it yet. (Well apart from any stalkers you may have searching on Google) First things first you need to  -  Create your Profile Page. On the right you see your Twitter name, click that and then click settings Account Tab Fill in all of your account details, Tick boxes - I wouldn't advise [...]
