Where do you get your news? #scredible

By | April 5th, 2014|Categories: Internet Tools, Social Media|Tags: , , , , , |

There have been many reports out recently telling us that 30% of people get their daily news from Facebook.  I think probably the figure is much higher when you include all of the social internet.  There is no need to buy a newspaper anymore when all the news we could ever need is at our fingertips. This got me thinking, where do you get your news? How can you Find News I personally use Google News which often takes me to the  BBC website and a few others for specific news - or if I'm mobile I've recently stuck to Flipboard which is set up to give me all of the news on subjects that I require, and what I like about Flipboard is that you can also Pocket articles to read later, from anywhere, and share to all of your networks. On the PC I do use many different programs like StumbleUpon, Scoop it, Reddit and the list goes on but recently I was asked to join a beta for Scredible and I am really enjoying using that. Social networking at its best with Favo.rs

By | December 19th, 2011|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Favo.rs is a social networking platform where users can trade help for free.  Favo.rs officially launched about two weeks ago and as far as I can make out is the work of Adam Rodnitzky, George Aspland and Scott Roberts who are all listed as co-founders. I signed up today for favo.rs and I have enjoyed helping a few people out, and finding out all about it, I think it is going to be a great "help" to all. It is simple to sign up - you can just log in with your Facebook, Linkedin or Twitter and link the others and you simply connect to help others and ask for help. Its a fantastic idea, as sometimes we all need a little assistance, getting that blog seen or a tweet heard, and here you feel no shame in asking for help.  Although most of what I have seen is people helping not asking, I had to look around for people that needed help. When you ask a favor, people can answer you, or broadcast it on their various networks or vouch for [...]

Facebook clickjacking Scam – Boy reaction after his Ex-girlfriend posted

By | June 27th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , |

Photo by Darkpatator There is another click-jacking scam similar to other scams we've seen recently. The link comes up as a message in your Facebook news-feed informing you that one of your friends liked this link. (Oh so it must be true then) Not! The first warning should be that there is a picture of a naked woman and a baby? Boy reaction after his Ex Girlfriend posted on his wall With a blogspot link lol what true pain both are having at this moment When you click the link you are taken to an advertising page, which apparently has a video on it.  When you try to play the video, it makes you like the page and it pops up an online survey. And so the scam cycle starts again....... its posted to your friend's walls saying you like it. Another similar one seen recently is one that promises to show you a video of Marika Fruscio during an embarressing moment, which seems to be her top falling down showing one boob. Wow how exciting is that! ... seriously, that's worse than the big bum scam. [...]

Person Folder – A NEW Social networking site!

By | April 24th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

What is Person Folder? Person Folder lets you keep track of your friends and connections the way YOU want. Its a brand spanking A NEW Social networking site;  users may create a personal profile, both public and private, add other users as friends and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their profile. Additionally, users may join common interest user groups, organized by workplace, school, or college, or other characteristics. Profiles also have the ability to create full profile page customization and the ability to add a music player. I joined it today, its still in beta, they are constantly working on it, creating fun happenings, and magic behind the curtains - who knows what might happen! It appears that Person Folder arrived on the scene after a few people were  just fed up with Facebook's security, hence the slogan. One thing that I did notice straight away (which is totally different to Facebook, sadly) is that EVERYTHING is set to ME ONLY - then you go to settings and change it to either "friends", or "everyone" if you want. Which of course is [...]

Color, Photo-sharing application – How do I… ?

By | March 27th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , |

There's been so much hype about the social networking image sharing application Color, I'd be surprised if you had not read about it yet. The hypemeter went off the scale similar to the cabbage patch kids hype of many years ago. Color is available for iphone and Android now: Color enables you to share photos or videos in group albums, with people at the same events as you.  You have to be within 150ft of each other, however I believe they might be lengthening this distance. You don't have to add people to your network, this will be automatic due to the fact you are in the same vicinity with strangers (or friends) at the same event as you: sms and text are even available. You could just use it sitting at home, if people near you are also doing the same thing, this seems pointless to me, but I can see the novelty for events or concerts and the like. Many complaints have been already flying around the net regarding this application, maybe they pushed it out too soon; there has already [...]
