Me and The Nokia Purity HD Stereo Headset by Monster

By | August 23rd, 2012|Categories: Reviews|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

The Nokia Purity Headset WH930 Nokia Connects recently gave me a Nokia Lumia 900 to trial and with it they sent a Nokia Purity HD Stereo Headset by Monster in turquoise blue, (Cyan) - yes OK, so,  I liked the colour. The headsets come in 4 colours (Red, Black and White) and they all look great. The Monster Purity comes folded up in a little hard shell carrying case that you can transport it around in and several cables, controls and stuff. You'll see what happened when I didn't take much notice of the other cables soon. I wanted to put these headphones to the test like I did the BH-905i Bluetooth stereo headphones from Nokia. I loved those guys! So I got ready to rock ..... This head set is fully adjustable, very well designed and very comfortable indeed with full padding on the earcup -  however the smallest setting was perfect for me, and I don't think I have an especially small head, so if you are thinking of getting these I'd test them for size.  Maybe we should say girls [...]

The Nokia Lumia 900 Techieminx review

By | July 17th, 2012|Categories: Reviews|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

I have had the pleasure of spending the last few weeks with the sexy Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone courtesy of Nokia Connects. I was blown away by this phone, all I can say is that if you are looking for a smartphone and if these are seriously on half-price, its a no-brainer.  You should jump at the Nokia Lumia 900 if you get the chance. I don't care that it's not getting Microsoft 8 - how long will it be before you upgrade to Microsoft 8 on your PC? Do you really need it or just want it?   Why it isn't upgradable however, I do not know, its rather upsetting, but it doesn't really need it. Why I was blown away by the Nokia Lumia 900 Visually The Nokia Lumia 900 is huge with its 127.8 x 68.5mm's  Its beautiful to look at, to feel and to hold.  The Nokia Lumia has a 4.3-inch ClearBlack Amoled Display.  The ClearBlack screen is amazing, its lifted slightly from the body of the phone and which, not only looks funky but the ClearBlack technology allows you [...]

Blippar – The QR code killer ?

By | October 24th, 2011|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Who or what is Blippar... and why is it going to kill the QR code!? Blippar is a Uk Company that launched its free image recognition application earlier this year in android and apple stores. Blippar™ is the first universal augmented reality platform aimed at advertisers.   Blippar is a new way to advertise or to get people interested in your brand. Its a great way to use marketing and the technology we love at the same time. Blippar call it a little bit of magic in our phones. Turn a real world object in front of you into an interactive experience by using your phone, genius! What it does is similar to the QR code, which I do love - but it is far, far more. The application uses the camera to recognise products. It might be actual bottles and packets or maybe posters, adverts, a building or even your logo on your business card or cup anything in the real word that is blippable you can turn into digital connections, information or interactive entertainment. The list is in fact endless! You hold your [...]

Blank screen on Nokia 6700 Fix

By | October 9th, 2011|Categories: Tips and Tricks|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Recently we had a problem with a Nokia 6700 mobile phone, the problem was a blank or black screen with a back light. After searching the internet we could not find out what the problem was - so I decided to share this with you as we found out the solution. None of the buttons seemed to do anything, I asked some of my Nokia friends who suggested the 3 finger reset which actually you need 4 fingers for, as you also have to turn the phone on.  This solution seemed to make the phone make a noise, sometimes the start up noise and sometimes just a beep but still nothing on the screen, it was just dead. We suddenly realised that we hadn't tried to take a call with the phone, so we called it and it rang, we were able to answer the phone and talk on it.  This made us assume that the phone could be still ok but it was actually a screen fault. So we ordered a screen from ebay  - "NEW LCD SCREEN DISPLAY [...]

My impressions of the Nokia X7

By | August 26th, 2011|Categories: Mobile - Reviews and News|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

I was recently given a Nokia X7 to test out for review from WOMworld Nokia  - my first impressions were of the box actually, the box looked more like something that you would get from Apple (except it was blue) than Nokia, not that a box matters really.  It was just compact and smart looking, I hate it when you get a massive box with lots of plastic with a mobile phone lost inside it, there is no need. On opening the box I was met with the stylish 8 megapixel Smartphone with a 4inch Amoled touchscreen. The X7 is pleasing to the eye, as it is not a standard rectangle shape but each of the corners have a grill design which angle inwards slightly creating an unusual and futuristic appearance. It is solid to touch but also light, it feels good quality and comfortable in your hand. The Gorilla glass scratch protection screen not only is great to look at but is very responsive this makes me happy, especially when this phone is designed for entertainment, the last thing you want [...]

Nokia N8 Smartphone – Personal Review

By | February 27th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , |

As we know, I love to try out different phones or gadgets or applications and I will give my honest view, in the simplest terms for people to understand.  This time I've been lucky enough to trial a Nokia N8 Smartphone, thanks to Womworld/nokia.From opening the box.......  HardwareThe N8 is extremely pleasing to the eye, its sleek, slender style and the courageous metalic green colour gave me visions of a Porsche or a Ferrari racing car racing around a track. A truly beautiful design.  It felt good in my hand, a comfortable size and it doesn't have a plastic feel to it as some phones do. This phone feels light and floaty whilst also feeling strong and sturdy. Astounding quality.Dimensions·                       Size: 113.5 x 59 x 12.9 mm·                       Weight (with battery): 135 g·                       Volume: 86 ccFabulous, I loved the look and feel of the N8There were however two small things I didn't like about the design,The flaps at the side covering the slots for the microSDcard and the SIM card: I found them difficult to use and they don't look like they would take [...]

Nokia BH905i Bluetooth Stereo Headset – My thoughts. BH-905i

By | February 21st, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

I recently had the pleasure of trialling a set BH-905i Bluetooth stereo headphones (I don't like the word headset, as these are far more)  from WOMWorld/Nokia. I didn't expect these headphones as I was at the time already trialling the Nokia N8 so I was thrilled at the suggestion. Music I love music and I have a very varied, some might even say eclectic taste, from classical music right the way up to heavy metal with some blues and trance thrown in. So I really put these headphones to the test. And I can safely say they are absolutely acoustically  awesome, there is no other way to describe them. Why they score three A's Quality The music quality extremely high, it sounds crisp, sharp and clear. It uses its 8 noise cancelling microphones to provide you with the best audio experience ever. The active noise cancellation works as well as it says and that is to reduce background noise by a stunning 99%  Call quality is perfect too, it was strange talking to people without something in front of your mouth but people [...]

Hard reset or restore factory settings Nokia N8

By | February 10th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , |

My adventures with the Nokia N8 are over and its time for him to go back to home, thanks guys. http://www.womworld.com/nokia/  I thought I should do a hard reset but on checking how to do this I found it was called  three-fingered suicide - EEK! Warning -  May lose Ovi Maps and Ovi Store and some other applications.I read that it is only advisable to hard reset in extreme circumstances. Not that it bothers me but it might cause problems to the next person who tests out this phone. Restore factory settings may be the better option,  I'd advise you to do this first if you are having problems.   I just wanted to delete personal data so this was enough for me.  Although there is an option to keep your data and just restore. Restore Factory SettingsMenuSettingsPhonePhone ManagementFactory settingsDelete data and restore or restore. This worked for me, all of my data was removed.   If you have still having problems however you may need to do this...  How to hard resetYou need a lot of fingers for this ........Turn phone offHold down [...]

Nokia N8 – Can’t Connect To Gateway – My solution.

By | January 26th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , |

This wasn't the first blog about the Nokia N8 that I expected to write after WomWorld/Nokia sent me a mobile phone to trial, so I can review. However even though I'm slightly embarrassed that I took a while to work this out, I thought this little post might help others. When I first got the Nokia N8 2 days ago I didn't have much time to have a look at it, I did have a little look around put in my passwords and logged in to some accounts, and it all seemed fine including Twitter. Yesterday when I returned home from work to have another look at it, it would not connect to Twitter via Ovi's social network. I put in my name and password, and it would seem to try to connect, then I would get the message Cannot Connect to Gateway.  It seemed really odd as I could use the web browser and download apps from the Ovi Store, (but not social networking apps). So this suggested that the Wifi (WLAN) was set up ok but there was problem somewhere. I had a look [...]

Best Camera N8 or iphone? Who Cares.

By | October 3rd, 2010|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

There has been a lot of controversy this weekend about which mobile phone has a better camera , or more importantly takes better photographs, namely the Nokia N8 and the Apple iphone. Although its not just now, comparing camera's on camera phones is always going on, I don't get it!If you want a high quality photograph, buy a camera! As an almost average user, I believe a camera on a mobile phone is just a wonderful added extra, its useful to have if you want to take a shot of where you are to send to your friends or a shot of something funny to post on to Twitter or Facebook.  Those photos do not have to be perfect, those photos just need to be seen.   I have an iphone and I personally cannot get very good pictures out of it, I'm not that fussed.  I know some people that take brilliant shots using the iphone, I don't know if they use app's or Photoshop to make them better but if I want to post something to twitter, its just [...]
