Nokia N8 – Can’t Connect To Gateway – My solution.

By | January 26th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , |

This wasn't the first blog about the Nokia N8 that I expected to write after WomWorld/Nokia sent me a mobile phone to trial, so I can review. However even though I'm slightly embarrassed that I took a while to work this out, I thought this little post might help others. When I first got the Nokia N8 2 days ago I didn't have much time to have a look at it, I did have a little look around put in my passwords and logged in to some accounts, and it all seemed fine including Twitter. Yesterday when I returned home from work to have another look at it, it would not connect to Twitter via Ovi's social network. I put in my name and password, and it would seem to try to connect, then I would get the message Cannot Connect to Gateway.  It seemed really odd as I could use the web browser and download apps from the Ovi Store, (but not social networking apps). So this suggested that the Wifi (WLAN) was set up ok but there was problem somewhere. I had a look [...]

Problems with Google Chrome?

By | January 21st, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , |

You are surfing away, googling some interesting sites when all of a sudden, Chrome starts to say This web page not available and you check the error message and it says.........Error 10 (net::ERR_ACCESS_DENIED): Unknown error.HUH! Well ......this doesn't appear to be a problem with Chrome but it seems as if it is either a firewall or anti virus blocking access,  lots of people with Mcafee have this problem. So make sure its approved or allowed in the settings. Or like me - I'd left Peer Guardian running and it really hates that and blocks Chrome opening some pages randomly. So close Peer Guardian and viola Chrome opens the page. This might happen in other browsers as well like Internet explorer, Firefox, Mozilla but I've only noticed it in Chrome. Chrome by the way is a brilliant browser its quick and simple and I love it. Why use Google Chrome.I just wanted to share that little bit of a fix with you, as there is nothing worse than having an annoying little problem and not knowing what it is.Hope this helps.

Cannot connect Kindle to WiFi ?

By | December 27th, 2010|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , |

Photo from pcworld.com Over the last couple of days I have heard of two friends that have the new Kindle without 3G that won't connect to their WiFi at home, but strangely do connect with other WiFi's.  One of these people is very tech savy and has never had a problem before with any wireless devices. We've been searching the internet to find a fix for the problem but as yet have found nothing that works. What we have found is that there are a lot of people having the same problem, and yet some have no problem at all. I wonder exactly how many people cannot connect the internet via Wifi, its certainly made me think twice about getting a Kindle from Amazon. There doesn't appear to be a pattern here either - I.E. it doesn't seem to be a certain type of router. I'm hoping its just something simple that we are overlooking and that maybe you can assist. Please, if you had the same problem and found a solution for this can you put it here, so that it will help [...]
