The redesign on Empire Avenue – Explained.

By | March 11th, 2012|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , |

I first blogged about Empire avenue 10 months ago - when I had just started. Back then I didn't realise the impact it would have on my social media strategies,  networks and more importantly I that would find a fantastic community of people that now mean a great deal to me. Anyway - I digress... Empire Avenue have relaunched a new design - which is said to engage you more with your social networks. Most people that "play" Empire avenue have always used it to engage and connect with other users, moving that to their other networks.  I think previously that was the problem, that, people that don't play Empire Avenue do not see it this way at all.  Empire avenue for me, is primarily not a game but is a way to connect and engage with a brillant community of "players".  Empire avenue is fun to play but it should also be part of your social media strategy.  It is possible to connect, interact and engage with clients and/or customers, contacts and like-minded people to help and share, when using this tool correctly. Empire [...]

How to enable the new Blogger or Blogspot new threaded comments

By | January 12th, 2012|Categories: Tips for Bloggers|Tags: , , , , , , |

Bloggers on Google's Blogger blog sites have been asking the question for a long time, when will we get threaded comments like you can have on websites such as wordpress. Now they can, today Blogger announced they have made another improvement to Blogger and that is that they new support threaded commenting. Threaded commenting makes it much easier to see whether someone is actually just commenting on the blog or in fact replying to another comment. This makes it much more likely for people to leave feedback on a blog as they can submit there on view on someone else's response to your blog post. For instance - on my blog problems with twitter on the iphone 4s Bob might comment - This solution didn't fix it for me, its still not working. Janice can now reply to Bobs comment  - You must be doing something wrong, as it worked for me and hopefully Bob has clicked notify by mail of any updates to comments on this post - then Bob will see it and he could even reply back. How to get Facebook’s new Timeline and What the heck is it?

By | January 8th, 2012|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

Can't wait to get Facebook's New Timeline ? You will have it very soon, don't worry! However if you have been chomping at the bit since the launch of Timeline in December for your Facebook Profile to change and can't wait any longer you can get it right now. Before we go into that, some are still asking - What is Facebook timeline?  Facebook timeline is a new profile layout that will show your Facebook activity from the time you joined Facebook. In a Time... Line!  Clever?  So, now your Facebook friends can look through your whole Facebook networking history not just what you posted today or last week.  Fun or Scary?  You may want to change some settings, I will show you how. I'm surprised actually that some of my most safety conscious friends are loving the new timeline. This is Mick Say's Timeline...He's from the Online Marketing Academy - I'm sure he won't mind me showing you what it looks like. I do like the fact that you can have a cover picture (the large picture at the top) it makes the page look much more professional and [...]

The New Social Networks set to take on Twitter – Meet Subjot and Heello

By | August 14th, 2011|Categories: Social Networks|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

New Social Networks set to take on Twitter Yes, new social networks launched recently - Subjot and Heello.  We've all heard about Google+ the project that aims to make sharing on the web more like sharing in real life is its claim. With its Circles, Sparks and Hangouts it makes it a little different to Twitter and Facebook. However in the past two weeks we  have seen two new kids on the block. Subjot - Created by Chris and Becky Carella and launched on the 4th of August  - in private beta. The main element  is that is Chris and Becky believe that social networks can be overwhelming and sometimes we just want to read what we need to, not everything else at the same time.  So they have introduced Subjects in such a format that sets them apart from all other social networks, in my opinion. Subjects Instead of following a particular person on Subjot you actually just follow the subject - A user might have 4 subjects -  music, tech, windsurfing, cricket. You might like this person and find [...]

Blogger down for over 20 hours – ITS BACK!

By | May 13th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , |

Updated below. Blogger (blogspot) announced 12 hours ago that after the downtime they had yesterday from 10-11pm that they had for maintenance there were issues found, so Blogger will be going in to read only mode. So they obviously unearthed some serious problems, are credit cards involved? I'm intrigued to why it would take this long to sort out, aren't you? Why is blogger down, some people thought it was because they were updating the site with the redesign but blogger are posting messages like this on there Twitter site. @QMI_RSS We were not rolling out the new UI, but instead conducting a routine maintenance. On the 19th of April we saw a blog from blogger stating the New UI will be .... available to our loyal Blogger users as quickly as possible. We realize there might be some ‘rough edges’ (see this page for the known issues) but fear not, we’ll be continually updating and improving the experience until it’s ready to graduate from Blogger in Draft. Our team is also very eager to hear your feedback, so please don’t hesitate to [...]

Person Folder – A NEW Social networking site!

By | April 24th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

What is Person Folder? Person Folder lets you keep track of your friends and connections the way YOU want. Its a brand spanking A NEW Social networking site;  users may create a personal profile, both public and private, add other users as friends and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their profile. Additionally, users may join common interest user groups, organized by workplace, school, or college, or other characteristics. Profiles also have the ability to create full profile page customization and the ability to add a music player. I joined it today, its still in beta, they are constantly working on it, creating fun happenings, and magic behind the curtains - who knows what might happen! It appears that Person Folder arrived on the scene after a few people were  just fed up with Facebook's security, hence the slogan. One thing that I did notice straight away (which is totally different to Facebook, sadly) is that EVERYTHING is set to ME ONLY - then you go to settings and change it to either "friends", or "everyone" if you want. Which of course is [...]

Don’t Panic – New Twitter will be back!

By | April 5th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

There is a big commotion on twitter right now, as the New Twitter design has gone - vanished - disappeared, everyone has suddenly been reverted back to the old twitter. There are tweets for and against its return, but mostly people are just shocked.   However Twitter support has issued this information... We’re temporarily disabling #NewTwitter. Our engineers are working on re-enabling it. We'll send an update once the issue is resolved. Personally I was quite pleased, but it looks like most people were not. Hope this  helps

Delete photos on (NEW DESIGN) YFrog – Part two

By | March 29th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , |

I wrote a post not so long ago about how to delete your photos from YFrog; due to the fact it took me a little while to find out. I'm pleased to say, that this post has helped out many people. Recently I received this comment. Whocares Looks like they've rebuilt the interface because i couldnt find any dropdown menu or any delete buttons. How to remove pictures on Yfrog updated So I hopped on over to Yfrog.  It seems things have indeed changed, in fact Yfrog recently had a complete overhaul on design with virtually a new product: you can tweet directly from their site, photos are more organised and it looks much more professional now.  This new design is apparently in beta and is being pushed out to people slowly so you may not have seen it yet.  It does look easier to use now, so hopefully people won't have so much difficulty but just in case, this is how you remove photos now. Click Profile Click Photos (or videos) Do not click the picture - because when you hover over the photo that you [...]
