By | June 20th, 2013|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: , , , , , |

Instagram Video! Facebook's Instagram have now added video to the instagram app. The video can be upto 15 seconds long and you can filter and share it just like you do your images. Where can I get instagram video This is available right now on iOS and android. Just update your app in the app store - Google play or in iTunes for iPhone and as if by magic you have the new feature of movie making.   As you can see here the video icon is there ! Its very exciting to have these changes to Instagram, its a great app and I must say that I use it often. I love how easy it is to enhance images and then share them on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr and now we can do this with video, exactly the same way as we do with images. I did a quick video just to test it out - and it works pretty much the same as Vine but you have a button.  http://instagram.com/p/aynxI7hXOf/?autoplay=true   The only trouble is that when [...]

How to find Parental Controls for Smartphones.

Creative commons picture - by Enricod - http://www.flickr.com/photos/enricod/6989554817/ October marks the ninth annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security, so I assumed there would be a few interesting posts about raising awareness about cyber security. However - Today I read in the Telegraph, that parents are worried that children can get porn on their mobile phones.... While of course I do want our children to be able to use the internet and be safe - I feel this is slightly exaggerated or maybe parents just aren't informed and unaware. When they say mobile phone of course, they actually mean Smartphone - a smartphone is a mobile phone that is built on a mobile operating systems allowing internet connectivity. I don't really want to debate about why on earth these parents would they buy a child a smartphone when maybe the kids isn't responsible or savvy enough not to click things that lead to adult sites, but porn is all over the internet, we know this. If they just had a normal feature phone that just took calls - [...]

By | September 9th, 2012|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

Via.Me, the First App to Offer Photo, Video, Audio Filtering and Sharing to Multiple Social Networks, Is Now Available on Android Via.me is a social media publishing platform created by RadiumOne Labs that has been available on iTunes for Apple iPhone users for over 5 months which has proved very popular by its 1 millions users. And now on September the 4th RadiumOne introduced Via.me for Android on Google play. Even though I'd heard about Via.me I'd not actually downloaded it yet as I already use the very popular instagram and tumblr, and thought Via.me was just a copy of instagram - I had seen someone call the app instagram on steroids and heard people say not another Social Network.  Via.me themselves say that you can use it create your own story board, by creating a personal story or the story of your brand - so there I thought similar to Pinterest.  However after hearing that the application was now launched on Android, I realised it was getting very popular and I thought it was time to try it out.  And I'm so glad I [...]

By | January 2nd, 2012|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

What song is this - What's that track - Tra la la. Is that a familiar question? All day you have had that annoying song going around in your head, you have no idea what the artist or the title of the track is, and you only know a few words, which doesn't come up in a Google search. (Yes this is me!) SoundHound could let you keep your sanity! SoundHound is a music recognition application by SoundHound Inc. which can recognise tracks from your singing - well most of the time, and that's with my bad singing!  It is said to have the worlds fastest music recognition, exclusive singing search, voice search and lyrics. This application has been around in one form or another for some time - once known as Midomi - It has had many updates and changes to it!  It is also listed as a New York Times top ten app for iPhone and Android. When I first saw Shazam I thought that was amazing, but this has the extras that I wanted Shazam to have, lyrics and [...]

New, new Twitter simplified? Is Old Twitter back?

By | December 8th, 2011|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , |

Today on 8th December 2011 Twitter announced a new version of Twitter, they say that they have simplified the design to make it easier to follow, connect and discover. They will be rolling this version out over the next few weeks but you can already get it on mobile iPhone or Android, just download from iTunes or Marketplace. So did they bring back Old Twitter..... No I'm afraid not. However, maybe they have been listening to our complaints and problems with the last update to Twitter, as it looks pretty good.  Sadly not back to full screen but maybe more important information at the sides than the wasted space before. What the new twitter icons mean. This is your home button - where you view your lineline. Your favourite features are on the left.  All you need to see is embedded in the tweet, so you can click on photos videos or conversations easily.       Connect - This button takes you to a place that shows you who has followed or mentioned retweeted or faved your tweets.  This [...]

Blippar – The QR code killer ?

By | October 24th, 2011|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Who or what is Blippar... and why is it going to kill the QR code!? Blippar is a Uk Company that launched its free image recognition application earlier this year in android and apple stores. Blippar™ is the first universal augmented reality platform aimed at advertisers.   Blippar is a new way to advertise or to get people interested in your brand. Its a great way to use marketing and the technology we love at the same time. Blippar call it a little bit of magic in our phones. Turn a real world object in front of you into an interactive experience by using your phone, genius! What it does is similar to the QR code, which I do love - but it is far, far more. The application uses the camera to recognise products. It might be actual bottles and packets or maybe posters, adverts, a building or even your logo on your business card or cup anything in the real word that is blippable you can turn into digital connections, information or interactive entertainment. The list is in fact endless! You hold your [...]

Fix…. My iPhone 3gs won’t restore after iOS5

By | October 17th, 2011|Categories: Tips and Tricks|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Did you say this? My iPhone 3gs won't restore after iOS5 My story... After patiently waiting for 4 days for the dust to settle before I attempted to download the  iOS 5 Software Update for iPhone, some iPod touch and iPad . I connected up my iPhone and opened iTunes. I was still apprehensive as so many people have had various problems, like music disappearing, album covers gone, various error messages but then some people said it was all fine and hunky dory.  To be safe I didn't just rush and download the iOS software update - first I installed the updated iTunes, sync'd and backed up the iPhone and making sure everything was up to date, hoping this would help. iOS5 downloaded in about 8 mins and installed really quickly, I thought it was too good to be true when it said iTunes needs to do a restore to complete. It went through the restore process only to come up with a message, saying that this unit could not be restored. Gutted - Try again and it says your phone is in [...]

Domino’s Pizza app for iPad and iPhone by Sumo

By | September 30th, 2011|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: , , , , , , |

Yes, you can order Domino's pizza from your iPhone, in minutes without even speaking to anyone. I thought it was time I stopped blogging about Facebook for one second and blog about the Domino's Pizza application on iTunes, seeing as I was asked so nicely.  This application was developed by Somo who states they are the leading independent European mobile marketing agency, specialising in strategy, design and build of mobile websites and applications. As you may know I love a pizza and I normally order using the Domino's online system, which the iPhone application is very similar to but  it has recently been improved, along with the launch of the iPad application. Using the Domino's Pizza app Its very easy to use and I love the design. When you first use it you put in your postcode and it finds your nearest store to collect or have delivered from. You then choose what you want by scrolling through a carousel style pizza menu - actually pizzas, sides, desserts and drinks - similar to how your music scrolls.  Loving this! The great addition here is the create your own; as you [...]
