Glide Video Texting App

By | July 31st, 2013|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

This Free Glide Video Texting App looks really cool. With Glide you are able to send video messages that are saved in the cloud to watch later or you can use the video to have real time chat.  With just one person or even in a group. To me, right now glide does sound just awesome. They just did one thing to let me down. Log in with Facebook The only down side for me is that you have to (at the moment) log in via Facebook.  However don't freak out, they are working on some other sign up options.  In one way signing up with Facebook does give the app some security.  As obviously its only people you call  your friends that can send you Glides.  However with a stand alone app you could have it so that only people you allow can send you video messages, maybe even with a code like BBM. Another thing I'm concerned with using Facebook or Twitter to sign in are the extra messages you will get, and I have seen reports of spam [...]

By | June 1st, 2013|Categories: Internet Tools|Tags: , , , , |

Pocket is a new and improved free version of Read it Later from 2007 by Idea Shower. Nate Weiner, founder and CEO of Pocket said that they have made all of Idea Showers applications free and he explains why the Pocket App on his blog here. Why Read It Later/Pocket Went Free So, what is Pocket Nate said in his post that its hard for people to pay for something they don't understand or see the value in. The Value for me, is that Pocket is a time saver, and stops me procrastinating which is so easy to do when you are working online. Pocket is a mobile and computer application that enables you to save articles, videos or web pages to view later.  If you are like me, you are always stumbling across articles that you don't have time to read right now.   This handy app not only saves these pages for you but also syncs it with your phone, tablet and computer so you can view it anywhere, even without an internet connection so you can catch up anywhere [...]

Curiosity – whats inside the cube – iPhone Application

By | November 8th, 2012|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Curiosity - I hope it didn't kill the cat My son just showed me a Yogscast video about a new application on the iPhone that has been created by Peter Molyneux at 22cans - and has already taken the world by storm.  The servers have already collapsed under the stress of the popularity of this game. 22cans call it an experiment or a competition. Curiosity the cube When you first open the application it just says - Are you curious ! Its simple but its so exciting!!!!!!  Why is Curiosity so exciting? The aim of the game to click madly at the blocks or cubelets on a GIANT rotating cube to destroy them  all with everyone else that has the application at the same time to see what is inside the box ...... CRAZY .... gaming gone mad. Everyone that has the application is chipping away at the same box, some people are creating pictures, text messages and even QR codes while they chip away at the side of the box... This website shows some of the creations - many aren't very tasteful so don't look if [...]

How to find Parental Controls for Smartphones.

By | October 10th, 2012|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Creative commons picture - by Enricod - http://www.flickr.com/photos/enricod/6989554817/ October marks the ninth annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security, so I assumed there would be a few interesting posts about raising awareness about cyber security. However - Today I read in the Telegraph, that parents are worried that children can get porn on their mobile phones.... While of course I do want our children to be able to use the internet and be safe - I feel this is slightly exaggerated or maybe parents just aren't informed and unaware. When they say mobile phone of course, they actually mean Smartphone - a smartphone is a mobile phone that is built on a mobile operating systems allowing internet connectivity. I don't really want to debate about why on earth these parents would they buy a child a smartphone when maybe the kids isn't responsible or savvy enough not to click things that lead to adult sites, but porn is all over the internet, we know this. If they just had a normal feature phone that just took calls - [...]

Cardio Lie Detector iPhone Application

By | October 6th, 2012|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: , , , , |

I was recently asked to review the Cardio Lie Detector Premium from Ubinuri the Korean software application company who also brought us the app MyLAB PRO.  Ubinuri interesting has recently been invested in by INFOCOM  - Infocom is one of the leading IT companies in Japan. Cardio Lie Detector Cardio Lie Detector Premium is an simple application for your iPhone or iPad that can tell if you are telling a lie or the truth.   The lie detector uses the camera to first sample your heart rate and then when you are being subjected to questioning it compares it to your heart rate to the original sample - because when you lie your heart rate increases.  You can watch this all happening the screen as the application detects your heartbeat. 1. Put your finger over the Camera at the back of the Phone 2. Press start to measure normal heart rate 3. Press start again to ask questions 4. You will get a percentage rating to say if what percentage of a chance it is you are lying.         [...]

How to find your #UDID for your iPhone as #Anonymous posts 1,000,001 IDs on Pastebin #Antisec

By | September 4th, 2012|Categories: Tips and Tricks|Tags: , , , , , , , |

It appears that Anonymous have posted 1,000,001 UDID's from a total of 12,000,000 iOS devices that they "retreived"  from the FBI This is the message on Pastebin - http://pastebin.com/nfVT7b0Z which they say had 370,000 hits 1 hour ago at the time of posting this. The reason for this was to aparently expose the FBI Agent for having 12m Apple UDID on his laptop - why we wonder is the reason for this, are they being tracked? On the Paste bin it says..... why exposing this personal data? well we have learnt it seems quite clear nobody pays attention if you just come and say 'hey, FBI is using your device details and info and who the fuck knows what the hell are they experimenting with that', well sorry, but nobody will care. FBI will, as usual, deny or ignore this uncomfortable thingie and everybody will forget the whole thing at amazing speed. so next option, we could have released mail and a very small extract of the data. some people would eventually pick up the issue but well, lets be honest, that [...]

The Addictive Social Word Game iOS App – Can’t Say That!

By | July 22nd, 2012|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , |

If you like "Words with Friends" or other social word games for iPhone or iPad then you are going to love this iOS application "Can't Say That!" developed by Fugazo -  I love Turn- taking, arcade type games like this and I'm already addicted to this one after a few days, its great fun. Getting Started with Can't Say That! Fugazo have realised their error of only allowing you to play via Facebook and are currently working on allowing you to create an account via email, which I would much prefer. I do hate it when you are forced to sign in with your Facebook account. However right now, when you first sign in to - Can't Say That -  you are requested to sign in using Facebook, you do not need to have to post to Facebook at all, just change that option - and nothing goes through as far as I have seen. You can chose to play with one of your friends or just someone random, random people pop up right away and so far they have been quick to [...]

DrawingSomething Application including Bugs and Fixes

By | April 15th, 2012|Categories: Mobile apps, Reviews|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Its been all go recently with Intragram being bought by Facebook and now DrawSomething from OMGPOP being bought by Zynga of Farmville fame for massive amounts of money it seems. Hopefully Zynga will sort out some of the problems that people are experiencing. Where can I play DrawSomething If you still don't know what Drawsomething is (where have you been?) - it is a drawing game similar to Pictionary where you draw a picture and people guess what it is, you can play this with Facebook friends or random people using the iPhone or iPad from iTunes. You can also play it directly from Facebook or on Google Plus. The app has a free game and a paid game - the only difference I can see is that you do not get adverts on the paid game. People are really good at this game, you can see some of the drawings on the DrawSomething Facebook page  iSketch I played DrawSomething on Facebook first because it reminded me of a browser based game which I was addicted to about 12 years ago called iSketch which is still [...]
