Whatsapp 4G VIP Scam fooling users again

By | September 7th, 2016|Categories: Scams|Tags: , , , |

I'm sorry to be writing about Whatsapp again so soon and I'm sorry that it's about yet ANOTHER Whatsapp hoax message but I had to warn you that there is a new scam going around - because I've seen it so many times already!   Its similar to the last one Whatsapp 4.0.   This Whatsapp 4G VIP Scam is fooling users into thinking that it is a real update.   Its more like an extention of the phishing scam Whatsapp Version 4.0 where the post action lists the extra features that you can get. The promises on this new VIP scam are as follows Private Messaging, while withholding your number Free WiFi mode Video Calling See who has viewed your profile picture on Whatsapp Free calls Of course, not everyone can have this - its VIP don't you know, it's for special people who invited users only.  So you must invite your friends before you can download.  (ALARM BELLS YET?) Also as usual with these scams if look carefully at the message - is written in bad English, (worse than mine, [...]

Verify your account Facebook scam

By | June 11th, 2012|Categories: Scams, Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , |

There appear to be three very similar facebook scams going around at the moment, all with the theme of Facebook Account Verification, and if you don't verify your accounts, something nasty is going to happen. Not that you will fall in a puddle of mud, but much worse, your facebook account will be closed. Well, what can I say ...... this isn't true - your Facebook account is not going to be closed if you don't verify your account, pay money or move to Scotland.  Its a scam. And its pretty   harsh one, these guys not only want you to spread it all around but they want you to allow them access to your account, to hack or steal your information.   You might see something like this This is a request for permission, you see that at the top, by clicking that blue allow button you are allowing the things on the left, which include.... Access to your basic information - Name, picture, gender , networks, user ID, friends list, and any other information that is public. Access to your profile information - Birthday,  hometown, City and Facebook [...]

Twitter News – Activity Arrives and A Hack Attack

By | August 24th, 2011|Categories: Social Networks|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

Twitter news... You may have heard that Twitter has launched another change on Twitter.com; I'll keep this brief as you will see for yourself soon enough. Activity  This shows favorites, follows, retweets, and more by people that you follow - this is next to @mentions, which now has your @name and retweets has gone  - this is being rolled out slowly as not everyone has it yet. I'm not sure about the usefulness of this yet, it makes it harder to see your retweets - but at least it is on another page and you have to click to see it.   One thing maybe to remember is that everything you do now, show's up in picture form for everyone to see, well maybe not EVERYTHING :) Some people are loving these new changes in Twitter, but some say its ruining what we once  had, simplicity - I do have to agree.  I wonder what your view is, do you like these changes from the #oldtwitter to the new? In other news...... New Phishing Attack There is another new Phising [...]

Double Whammy hack today – Spider Facebook Survey Scam and Bad thing about you on Twitter

By | July 23rd, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Double Whammy Scam today... First up  - Facebook There is a link appearing on twitter titled Omg Spider Under The Skin with a blogspot link, my friends have told me that they are seeing this so much on Facebook that it is getting annoying -  so its going viral - god knows why because as usual who on earth wants to watch that. ewww. Its a another survey scam ! It first takes you to an age verification page, when you click this it shares the page to all of your friends. Next, you will be taken to a survey that promises that you could win gifts if you take part, you don't, you just are paying the scammers for filling it out. If you have clicked this then, remove all evidence of it on your news feed, and put out an apology saying it is fake, so no one else clicks it.  Then check your likes page and remove it from there, and I'd even change your password to be on the safe side. If in doubt - DON'T CLICK ! Twitter - [...]

Warning! Twitter Scam – Is this blog about you?

By | July 16th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , |

There is another Phishing scam going around Twitter.  This is similar to the "Is this you in this picture"  and "Is this you in this video" You get a DM asking Is this blog about you with a link - here is the one I revived today. People are saying that when you click the link it takes you to a twitter log in page, it then takes over your account and sends out DM's to your friends from your twitter account. Think before you click! The danger is that these DM's are from friends and you don't think about it when you click as you wonder - ooh am I featured in a blog? If you have clicked on this, you need to change your password immediately and try to warn the people that you have DM'd not to click the link.  I sent a message to the above account to tell this this is happening, as that is the other problem, you don't actually realise right away that it is happening. Update - I've also received the "This gotta be you in [...]

Facebookers getting Hacked! How to prevent.

By | April 9th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , |

Many Facebook users accounts are being hacked at the moment; there seems to have been a spate of complaints coming from friends and acquaintances. Edit: What to do if you have been hacked through the recent porn hacks - November 2011  There are many ways to get hacked on Facebook; using an open Wifi connection seems to be the quickest and easiest way. Or the old scam email that tells you to reset your password or just by clicking a dodgy link.  There are various programs hackers can use and even videos on youtube on how to do it. Facebook seem to be jumping on it as fast a leopard leaps on his prey, so says one of my relatives; she received a message from Facebook saying that someone from another country had accessed her account, could she confirm this was her and or change her password, she was thrilled that they acted so quickly. Prevention You can prevent this simply, by first making sure your password is difficult - containing characters other than just letters; some techies advise that you shouldn't even use real words but use a mixture, similar to the generated ones you are sometimes given [...]
