DrawingSomething Application including Bugs and Fixes

By | April 15th, 2012|Categories: Mobile apps, Reviews|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Its been all go recently with Intragram being bought by Facebook and now DrawSomething from OMGPOP being bought by Zynga of Farmville fame for massive amounts of money it seems. Hopefully Zynga will sort out some of the problems that people are experiencing. Where can I play DrawSomething If you still don't know what Drawsomething is (where have you been?) - it is a drawing game similar to Pictionary where you draw a picture and people guess what it is, you can play this with Facebook friends or random people using the iPhone or iPad from iTunes. You can also play it directly from Facebook or on Google Plus. The app has a free game and a paid game - the only difference I can see is that you do not get adverts on the paid game. People are really good at this game, you can see some of the drawings on the DrawSomething Facebook page  iSketch I played DrawSomething on Facebook first because it reminded me of a browser based game which I was addicted to about 12 years ago called iSketch which is still [...]

Storify launches a new look with a stronger foundation today!

By | October 27th, 2011|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , |

I'm glad to read today that Storify have made lots of changes - They say they have rebuilt it from the ground up. Storify is a new way of blogging your life in social media - You can make stories from the social web using moments, tweets, in the realtime. Just search on a subject on various platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, and Google plus and make your own story! Storify was Co-founded by@burtherman and @xdamman I've always loved the idea of this, but to be honest most of the time, it didn't work that well for me for various reasons, but now they have made big changes, I hoping that my problems with Storify are all over.  Then instead of screen printing the results like this I can actually embed a story. The changes are ....... A new logo and new look. The search and the editor sides of the interface have been switched, and we have made it easier to add text to stories. Photo searches are displayed in gallery format and pictures shown larger in stories. Saving stories is more reliable. A [...]

The New Social Networks set to take on Twitter – Meet Subjot and Heello

By | August 14th, 2011|Categories: Social Networks|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

New Social Networks set to take on Twitter Yes, new social networks launched recently - Subjot and Heello.  We've all heard about Google+ the project that aims to make sharing on the web more like sharing in real life is its claim. With its Circles, Sparks and Hangouts it makes it a little different to Twitter and Facebook. However in the past two weeks we  have seen two new kids on the block. Subjot - Created by Chris and Becky Carella and launched on the 4th of August  - in private beta. The main element  is that is Chris and Becky believe that social networks can be overwhelming and sometimes we just want to read what we need to, not everything else at the same time.  So they have introduced Subjects in such a format that sets them apart from all other social networks, in my opinion. Subjects Instead of following a particular person on Subjot you actually just follow the subject - A user might have 4 subjects -  music, tech, windsurfing, cricket. You might like this person and find [...]

At last iTunes has a Google+ App for Apple iPhone !

By | July 19th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , |

The Google+ app has arrived for iPhone!  Since the Android app was launched for Google plus, we Apple users on Google+ have been patiently waiting (for a couple of weeks!) for an iTunes application, although to be fair it was pretty good using Safari. As far as I know Apple has had it for over a week for approval. Finally it is available for 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4 - Nothing for the iPod Touch, or the iPad available yet! I couldn't actually find it via the App Store from the iPhone yet  (it is appearing now under realease date) however Download Google+ for iPhone here using itunes   http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google/id447119634   This is a free application and it will be interesting to see, what it will creep up to in the free application charts and how long it will take. Be aware, as I did find another application created by someone else that was 69p   Message recieved on - Google+ via iTunes from +Punit Soni  We discovered an issue with the version of the iPhone Google+ App that was on the [...]

Facebook Scam – Google+ Get Invite

By | July 13th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Surprise, Surprise -  there appears to be a few fake Google plus invite pages flying around facebook at the moment offering immediate access to Google+ who's social network is currently running in beta with a limited amount of people.  I say that but a report from Mashable says that  there are now more than 10 million google+ users. Every now and then Google opens up the network for a little while so that you can send out invites and people can accept, but its not for long and if you miss it you have to wait for the next one, when two come a long at once, oh no - that's buses sorry. This  facebook page hasn't been around for very long but already it has 30k likes - I read some of the posts on there and one person said, Oh no this is a scam, can I still have a google+ invite though ? There are hundred of comments giving out email addresses (nice) for anyone to see, I didn't "like" the page but I could still see everyone's [...]

Google+ Can you change extended Profile ID ?

By | July 4th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , |

I don't know if you are like me but I hate numbers - I go to all lengths to avoid these numbers that they give us for personal links on various websites. So I've been trying to find out how to change the long number (its 21 digits!) on the Google+ Profile ID to my Google mail name.  which I thought was an option, but it has disappeared. The short answer  is that officially at present you cannot change the extended URL; while Google plus is on "Field Trial" When its out of trial  you should be able to do this to get your username At the moment the "Profile URL" section isn't even there.. so keep an eye out for it. Here is what Natalie Villalobos - Community Manger for the Google+ project (what a great job!)  said... Patience is a virtue... HOWEVER! There are ways........ 1) Here's how to get your  own name in your google+ link Today or very recently a third party application  has been launched called gplus.to where you can change your profile to shorter name [...]
