Where do you get your news? #scredible

By | April 5th, 2014|Categories: Internet Tools, Social Media|Tags: , , , , , |

There have been many reports out recently telling us that 30% of people get their daily news from Facebook.  I think probably the figure is much higher when you include all of the social internet.  There is no need to buy a newspaper anymore when all the news we could ever need is at our fingertips. This got me thinking, where do you get your news? How can you Find News I personally use Google News which often takes me to the  BBC website and a few others for specific news - or if I'm mobile I've recently stuck to Flipboard which is set up to give me all of the news on subjects that I require, and what I like about Flipboard is that you can also Pocket articles to read later, from anywhere, and share to all of your networks. On the PC I do use many different programs like StumbleUpon, Scoop it, Reddit and the list goes on but recently I was asked to join a beta for Scredible and I am really enjoying using that. Three months after launching its new android 3.0 tablet application, The startup  Thoora - a content discovery engine, based in Canada. is closing... indefinitely. Purpleplanet and I first wrote about Thoora here - Aggregate and curate your favourite content - we believed then it was going strong.    Nothing has been said yet on their twitter account, which has 26k followers.... Today we received an email stating that as from the 15th December 2011 Thoora is shutting down its website, the API, the WordPress widget and the android tablet application. There is no explanation for this just as yet, they just thank everyone for the crazy journey. There is a blog post showing your how to re-bookmark your favorites Log in to your account on Thoora Access your favorites page for each topic Click on each favorite to open the content in a new browser tab or window Re-favorite the item, using your browser’s favoriting function or other tool http://blog.thoora.com/ Thoora do say at the bottom of the post that they hope to meet us all again, so maybe they have something even better up their sleeves and Thoora was [...]

Triberr no longer supports automatic tweeting!

By | November 19th, 2011|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

What is Triberr? The basics Triberr was created by  Dino Dogan and Dan Cristo. Groups of bloggers create "tribes" where each of them can share each others posts on Twitter.   This used to be Automatic - you would just join a tribe, and every time you published a new post it would go to Triberr and everyone in your tribe would automatically tweet it to their own followers thus creating a larger audience for your website or blog. You could have your account on a manual setting - I know some people did - I used my account as manual - not because I didn't trust the other members of the tribe - I am in in a very close-nit group of great bloggers who can be trusted to post informative, interesting and positive content, however I would log in to Triberr most days and read the blogs that I was sending out and maybe comment or share them to other networking sites. I did this because... A) I had the time, where as others don't B) I want to know what is going through my [...]

How many views does your blog get from Twitter ?

By | September 13th, 2011|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Picture: Twitter developers Soon you should be able to find out how many views you get via Twitter as today Twitter announce the release of its Web Analytics Tool. We all love data, we love to see how much we are getting, where it is coming from and how long for.  Analytics platforms are popping up more and more each with more or different information. Twitter have been keen show off its true influence since bringing out its own URL shortener http://t.co which automatically shortens links of over 20 characters. They said it was to protect users from malicious sites where you may get hacked or a virus as Twitters link service is checked by potentially dangerous sites.  However we noticed right away in our usual analytics tools that lots of our traffic was infact coming from Twitter, and one of the reasons we knew this was because of t.co. Not a surprise for Twitter. Previous to that we saw that Twitter had acquired BackType who are involved in social analytics, they said then they will be developing tools for Twitter, So that is who is running this show [...]
