Bloggers see the effects of losing Google friend connect. In November the Senior Vice President of Operations for Google Urs Holze announced Google were spring cleaning, part of this cleaning involved terminating Google Friend Connect for non-blogger sites, such as WordPress. This retirement went into effect on the 1st of March and bloggers that did nothing about it are now losing many page views or unique visits from people that were only viewing from Google friend connect. Google tried to encourage people to transfer subscribers to Google+ and to create Google+ page but we heard that many didn't want to have to create more work for themselves and some don't even like Google+ However, it might be something to think about as the future is clear, with the G+ button having a big impact on SEO and it all being connected with Google profiles, pages and especially business pages, I don't think its something you want to miss out on as a blogger. What they didn't suggest is Google Reader, many use Google Reader to keep up to date with their favorite blogs [...]
The reason for this post is that I wanted to add someones RSS feed to my new reader and for some reason they don't have it displayed on their blog and this is how I found it What is an RSS feed - This is a very detailed blog about what is RSS on Problogger, everything you need to know is there about RSS feeds. How to find an RSS feed on a blogspot blog. Blogspot, thought they would make this difficult to find for some reason as, most blogs or websites you would just type /feed or /rss something like that at the end of the URL but blogger in its wisdom decided to use this.... /feeds/posts/default?alt=rss So all you have to do is just add that to the end of the blogspot url like this... http://lv-loves.blogspot.com http://lv-loves.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss This is my cousins awesome blog btw, about love, laughter, movies, books, reviews, and beauty, things she loves basically :) You can check that is it correct by typing that into your search bar, if its correct you will see something like [...]
Bloggers on Google's Blogger blog sites have been asking the question for a long time, when will we get threaded comments like you can have on websites such as wordpress. Now they can, today Blogger announced they have made another improvement to Blogger and that is that they new support threaded commenting. Threaded commenting makes it much easier to see whether someone is actually just commenting on the blog or in fact replying to another comment. This makes it much more likely for people to leave feedback on a blog as they can submit there on view on someone else's response to your blog post. For instance - on my blog problems with twitter on the iphone 4s Bob might comment - This solution didn't fix it for me, its still not working. Janice can now reply to Bobs comment - You must be doing something wrong, as it worked for me and hopefully Bob has clicked notify by mail of any updates to comments on this post - then Bob will see it and he could even reply back. [...]
Blogger is google's free tool for bloggers to create their own blog website. It is very simple to set up and you can have many blogs using the same account. Blogger will host this blog on blogspot.com for free. (Which is the difference between Blogger and Blogspot by the way) Its very easy to use, mostly with guides and instructions. Adding pictures and videos is a breeze especially if you use Picasa/ Google Video or You Tube. All free... great huh? so.. Why would you want to delete your blog on blogger or blogspot? You haven't visited it for a year, even though you promised yourself you would write every week, no one is reading your blog or maybe Google just doesn't do it for you anymore and you want to start a fresh with another platform such as WordPress. For whatever reason, you want it gone, forever. Be aware, this isn't to show you how to export your blogspot blog or to keep any part of it, this is to permanently get rid of it. How to delete your blogspot or [...]
As we know Blogger was down for 20 hours due to data corruption that occurred after Wednesday nights scheduled maintenance. People are complaining about missing posts and darfts; now they are worried about publishing any more posts in case these posts are not safe and go on the missing list too, but the absent posts are the posts that they had to remove from Wednesday night (so you would assume they are safe), as they rolled back Blogger to the pre maintenance state. It seems that they were going to wait until they had replaced all of those posts before getting the website up and running again, but they must have felt it would be better to let the now angry bloggers publish new posts and keep adding the removed blogs as they go. So, we assume that the missing post will come back soon. Blogger Buzz: Blogger is backhttp://goo.gl/fb/hbD2U Ah! a confirmation of returning posts from @Blogger: We’re continuing to restore posts that were temporarily removed. It’s looking like a few more hours until we’re back to normal. Good luck with that.
Updated below. Blogger (blogspot) announced 12 hours ago that after the downtime they had yesterday from 10-11pm that they had for maintenance there were issues found, so Blogger will be going in to read only mode. So they obviously unearthed some serious problems, are credit cards involved? I'm intrigued to why it would take this long to sort out, aren't you? Why is blogger down, some people thought it was because they were updating the site with the redesign but blogger are posting messages like this on there Twitter site. @QMI_RSS We were not rolling out the new UI, but instead conducting a routine maintenance. On the 19th of April we saw a blog from blogger stating the New UI will be .... available to our loyal Blogger users as quickly as possible. We realize there might be some ‘rough edges’ (see this page for the known issues) but fear not, we’ll be continually updating and improving the experience until it’s ready to graduate from Blogger in Draft. Our team is also very eager to hear your feedback, so please don’t hesitate to [...]
If you have previously subscribed to my RSS feeder (if you haven't why not!) you might be wondering why you suddenly have 10 new blogs. Sorry! As you may know, I recently changed from blogspot to my own domain. (Hosted by the wonderful people of Ooblay) I was very nervous about doing this as I didn't want to lose readers. Once I had the correct plugins etc, everything seemed pretty smooth (haha) and I thought that RSS was set up. However, friends told me that they had stop receiving notifications of blogs. The transfer from Blogspot to Wordpress was completed, it all looked fine, there was an RSS feed in place so I assumed (never assume) that it had transfered everything from my old Blogger address to my new but when I looked it was a new Feedburner account. Now I had two, maybe because the blogs now had different gmail accounts. I logged into http://feeds.feedburner.com using the second Google mail account and deleted the new feedburner. Next I logged into feedburner with the old Gmail account. It read that it was still [...]
I'd been looking through some stats from last year and I have been very pleased with how my blog has evolved and how interest has grown. After, at first not really knowing how it was going to turn out or what I would blog about, its turned itself around and ended up being more of help or information page, with reviews and my views on various applications, programs, and subjects. Which I've enjoyed very much, I look forward to being offered more trials or beta testing in the future, so that I can let you know my findings. Don't forget you can contact me via email on Techieminx@gmail.com if you have anything that would you like me to test or find out about. It was interesting to see which posts had received the most views, so in celebration of that, I thought I'd just post them again. This is why there are Cartoon Characters on Facebook !!You may have noticed lots of people changing their profile pictures on Facebook to cartoon characters and are wondering why. I must ... Formspring - The Good, The Bad [...]
