Innovative Networking app for Business Professionals – a must have!

By | October 14th, 2016|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: |

The newly launched Causr app is an innovative Networking app for Business Professionals because it uses location to find business people to network with, it doesn't matter where you are and what you are doing, you can always find someone. Causr, was created by James Eder Founder of Causr.co and Co-founder of The Bean Group. James thought that technology could help tempt fate to connect people who might usually not get the chance to meet otherwise.  Anything is possible with the technology available to us now, and he's proved that with this app. Networking on the go Creating a network of like-minded business professionals is one of the best things to do for your business.  You can share information, ask for help, help others and develop a meaningful list of professional or business contacts. Most of us will already have one or more networks of people who we connect with on various platforms, Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, or maybe even Whatsapp groups or another networking app for business professionals. However, the difference with the app Causr is that it enables users to make [...]

Not ads on WhatsApp, but sharing data to Facebook – How to opt out.

By | August 25th, 2016|Categories: Mobile apps, Social Media|Tags: , , |

It was announced today from WhatsApp, that Whatsapp will be sharing your personal information with Facebook including your phone number to allow businesses to communicate with users. There are lots of headlines floating around saying that we are going to get ads on Whatsapp. This does not appear to be the case. In today's Whatsapp blog, they stated that they haven't made any changes to their privacy policy in four years.  But now they want to "test ways for people to communicate with businesses" Does this mean adverts - that doesn't sound like it, not on WhatsApp anyway. They say there will be no spam and no banner ads but stuff that we get via text message all the time, like about deliveries being late or flight being delays. So no WhatsApp ads We still do not allow third-party banner ads on WhatsApp. In the future, we will explore ways for you and businesses to communicate with each other using WhatsApp, such as through order, transaction, and appointment information, delivery and shipping notifications, product and service updates, and marketing. For example, you may [...]

At last ! Create great designs from Canva on your iPhone

By | July 20th, 2016|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: |

Canva was founded in 2012, they launched in Beta in 2013  after getting some funding and quickly became very popular, which is not a surprise because Canva is a very easy to use FREE design tool.  I wrote about Canva on my business blog in 2014 - telling everyone about the Free Design Tool.     So now we have Canva on the web, Canva on the iPad and Canva on the iPhone, I'm so excitred to have Canva on the iPhone - it does need iOS 8.1 as you would expect. Canva on your iPhone I've been using Canva for over 2 years now and have always wanted to be able to create designs on my phone.  Everytime I put in suggestions to the team they would always say, yes this is in the works, and it always came through so we just had to be patient.   Yes there are a number of different design apps but with Canva you are able to keep all of your designs and uploads of images that you use for your designs on [...]

How to stop Whatsapp Automatically Saving Photos

By | May 4th, 2016|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: |

People are often finding themselves with no storage space on their iPhones because Whatsapp automatically saves all media sent to you (or to a group) in your iPhone, so one of the first questions Whatsapp users ask is... How to stop Whatsapp automatically saving photos to their phones Whatsapp is a very popular messaging app with over one billion users, so you might have heard of it.  They recently upped their security by adding End to End Encryption, so that has made it even more popular.  If you aren't using it already, you possibly might do at some point in time, if so you might need this information.  So many people on Whatsapp are always asking how to stop Whatsapp from saving photos to the iPhone camera roll automatically. When people first get on to Whatsapp they always scream about all the photos, videos and other media that is now on their iPhone or any phone,to be honest, (it's not just an iPhone problem, it's actually a default setting on Whatsapp) especially if they are in a lively group, who share lots [...]

By | April 28th, 2016|Categories: Mobile apps, Social Networks|Tags: |

This word Musical.ly is popping up all over the place lately - you might be thinking, what is musical.ly?  If you have teenagers you probably already know what musical.ly is.  Musical.ly has had exponential growth in the past 12 months, probably mostly amongst teenagers  and is one of the top 20 apps in the free iPhone app chart with already more than 60 million users. Musical.ly is a mobile social network that centers around music and videos - it's basically a lipsync video creator with a social network.  From what we can find out - Musically was founded around 2 years ago by Alex Zhu and Luyau Yang as an engagement and promotion platform for entertainers. Even though Musical.ly does have the added social network the closest app we could liken musical.ly to would be the hit app Dubsmash which has been used by many performers and artists, which looks on last count to have 75 million users - so musical.ly is catching up fast! We know the power of video and imagery on social media,  especially with the younger generation, who love a selfie [...]

End-to-end encryption makes communication on WhatsApp finally private

By | April 5th, 2016|Categories: Internet Tools, Mobile apps|Tags: |

End-to-end encryption makes communication on WhatsApp finally private - Whatsapp today have stepped up their privacy game by adding end-to-end encryption - it was one factor that was leaving them behind in the communication race with many other apps such as Telegram and Skype already using this method of secure communication. What is end to end encryption (E2EE) Whatspp end-to-end encryption was developed in collaboration with Open Whisper Systems. What it actually means is that no one - apart from who you allow - can read your chat or listen to your phone calls via WhatsApp - not hackers, cyber criminals, an internet service provider, government or indeed any other third party.  What they call cryptographic keys are used to encrypt and decrypt the messages. Basically all messages, documents, photos, videos, voice messages  are secured with a lock and key, and no one else can get your secret number unless you allow it. End-to-end encryption makes communication on WhatsApp finally private The absence of end to end encryption hasn't prevented the hoards of people using Whatsapp and signing up - with something like [...]

WhatsApp Finally on PC for iPhone iOS

By | August 24th, 2015|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: , |

After using WhatsApp again after having it for over 3 years and I am relieved that WhatsApp is finally on PC for iPhone iOS.   WhatsApp is fab when you are mobile to have on the iPhone. However its so much easier to use the on the PC when you are working with every other network (Apart from Instagram) on your computer. WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform messaging application that lets you send and receive SMS messages without paying. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Android and Nokia, all these devices can communicate with one another! Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the data plan you already have to email and internet, there is no additional cost for sending messages and keep in touch with friends. www.whatsapp.com When I started using Whatsapp again everyone said, you can have Whatsapp on your computer now, its brilliant - but low and behold - not for iPhone, iOs you couldn't, this feature has been available for Android for 6 months and its taken that long to get it working with Apple phones. WhatsApp Finally on PC for iPhone iOS I can not tell you [...]

Funny iOS game Man or Goat

By | April 12th, 2015|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: |

I discovered this seriously crazy and funny iOs game Man or Goat on Twitter which is in Beta testing right now and I had to try it out. I'm not sure if it was a Dev asking for testers for a chaotic farce of a game out that tempted me or the video I saw, which showed that it was absolutely crazy. Man or Goat for iOS has been created by Gareth of Newtquest Games - who started this venture in May 2003 - its taken him almost 2 years to get this game finished.  When you know the full story - which adds to the fun, you will understand why.  Funny iOS game Man or Goat Man or Goat sounds like a simple game for your mobile at first - you just have to decide if the sounds you hear are a man or a goat.   Simple - no, its not.  Strangely enough, goats don't just bleat, they make some very strange noises indeed.  Gareth's extensive research on Goat noises made him realise that there are 25 categories of noises! The Making of Man or Goat I find [...]

This day has been talked about for a long time, its emotional! At last The HugTrain launches its own mobile app on Android and iOS - well, iOS is waiting to be accepted but I see no reason why it won't be! This is a great way that we can use technology to boost our well being and happiness and to connect with people -  Its just amazing to me that The HugTrain can help people all year round now.   What is HugTrain If you know me, you know I've been a little involved with The HugTrain - (see Who needs a hug)  since I met founder Arie Moyal and have tried to help out, as there are many things that need to be done before Arie even gets on the train, this year HugTrain was acquired, which has given Arie the extra help that he has needed at last.
