By | December 20th, 2013|Categories: Social Networking Tools|Tags: |

If you are the starving artist type you will have no doubt tried selling art online.  There are so many resources and websites available to do this it would be crazy not to use them to showcase or exhibit your work. Many of these websites have so many users fighting for sales, and huge commissions that sometimes it is difficult to get your work seen, let alone bought. I don’t call myself an artist but I love art, for me art is a hobby to relax me when I’m not working, but I do like to show people what I have created or whats the point.   Its been a very long time since I actually painted on canvas, when I used to sell.........[read more]

The Power of Giving on Social Media #lostbear #FindElaine #hugtrain5

By | December 18th, 2013|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , |

Such is the power of giving on social media - that we don't have to do a lot to help out, just a retweet or a share, or just to let know someone we care, we can actually do something to make a difference! We all know by now the story of the #lostbear on social media.   I will recap if you've been living in a cave with no wifi since Friday. Friday the 13th wasn't as unlucky for a young girl called Phoebe as she first thought, after losing her bear at a train station after a trip to London, she had spent the weekend very upset. However Lauren Bishop Vranch had found the bear (actually a lion) and posted the picture of the Lion on  Twitter asking for help to find the owner.  Then followed more pictures of the adventures of #lostbear whilst being looked after by Lauren. Soon the #lostbear pictures were all over Twitter, Facebook and Google plus this had gone viral with everyone sharing and wanting to help find the owner.  It took just two days [...]

Follr – Get your digital identity secured!

By | December 16th, 2013|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , |

Founders Stephen Fells and Mark Wayman call Follr a digital identity website. Follr is a personally branded website that can be used as your initial point of contact, like you would use a business card but digitally. Follr suggest that they solve the problem of our ever changing social identities getting lost and fragmented by storing all of our content and professional or personal information, ie our digital identity. I signed up for a free trial of Follr in October to test and see what it was all about, I set up my profile, added my links, followed/friended a couple of people - its seemed great, but at the time work was really busy and it was put on the backburner. Smartphone Stats Which Companies Are Winning The Race

By | December 12th, 2013|Categories: Mobile - Reviews and News|Tags: , , , , , |

I always find Smartphone Stats interesting, and Earl Ray of Coupon Audit created this infographic for me to show which companies are winning the race with some interesting statistics taken from many sources, listed at the bottom of the infographic. Surprising Smartphone Stats Its starts of by telling us that there are 4 billion active smartphones in the world, that is amazing as I remember reading last October that the world had just passed a total of 1 billion smartphones in the world. The infographic states that it should take another 3 years to reach 8 billion.  There are only 7 billion people in the world now so this is saying in 3 years there will be another billion people on the planet.  If that is right I can't see that they will all have smartphones, however .. if they could, this would be easily be achievable sooner infact. Another surprising smartphone stat is that a huge 6.3% of smartphone owners are 13-17 years old and only 17.2% are 18-24 years old. I won't carry on telling you what you [...]

This network is cool! What are the features of Follr News Feed - The same [...]

By | December 11th, 2013|Categories: Tips and Tricks|

The Kindle Fire HDX 7" Tablet is one of the latest Amazon Fire tablets boasting a perfect-colour HDX display and a fast 2.2Ghz quad-core processor for console-quality graphics. Storage on this kiddy is either 16GB or 32GB however, you get unlimited Cloud storage for all of your amazon content.   Talking of Amazon content, we suspect if you buy a Kindle HDX you will still want to read your ebooks on your new Kindle.  We found it difficult to Transfer books from Amazon Kindle to Kindle Fire HDX as it wasn't as easy or the same as transferring from one Kindle to another. The Kindle Fire HDX doesn't come with any instructions in the box as such but it does have a special MAYDAY button which allows on-device tech support which a free.  There is also a help function on the device but this was explaining to us how to transfer the books one by one, and with hundreds of books this wasn't an option. So, with a bit of trial and error  we found a quick way to transfer files [...]

Christmas Jumper Day – Friday 13th December

By | December 10th, 2013|Categories: Mobile apps|

This Friday the 13th of December it is Christmas Jumper Day.  If you were a child of the 80's you might remember the outlandish and lets face it "ugly" Christmas jumpers that we were bought for Christmas from Grandma. It seeming became popular because TV celebrities started to wear them on Christmas specials.  Mark Darcy from Bridget Jones's Dairy wasn't embarrassed about his Christmas Jumper but we'd decided by then that this type of sweater was not a good fashion statement. Mark Darcy: I realize that when I met you at the turkey curry buffet, I was unforgivably rude, and wearing a reindeer jumper. Somehow,  in  2010 these jumpers became popular again and that trend has been increasing for the most original festive Christmas Jumper since.  Now we can't get enough! Save the Children The Save the Children charity has organised  Christmas Jumper Day or Sweater Day for a few years now, raising money for the charity by encouraging people to wear their Christmas Jumpers on the chosen day. How to take part. Sign up for your free fundraising kit. Tell [...]

Now I like to create my art on the PC, which might come from a sketch that I have created or a photograph I have taken or seen, and I realise that I am still learning these techniques and software.   However from time to time, I see that people are [...]

Creating a website can be cheaper and easier than you think.   If you have a business, want to be a blogger or have a product that you need to promote and you need to get online quick. There are a number of resources that you can use. Using some platforms you might not get your own domain name, and it could be that it might not rank highly in search engines, due to SEO restrictions but the old saying something is better than nothing is true. Professionally Designed Websites Obviously the best way to go, is to get a professionally designed original website, which looks gorgeous and  you can add all the SEO tools that you need, your own logo and update and change to your hearts desire. You can buy your own domain name and a get a host and work on getting to number one in Google searches.  This might not be as expensive or as difficult as you think.  However some people find this too much to deal with, they just don't understand how to keep [...]
