5 top ways for Newbies to get more followers on Twitter

By | January 29th, 2013|Categories: Social Media|

This is more a Twitter guide for people new to twitter - most of us know these things, and adhere to them and others aren't really bothered as they have all the followers they need. I'm going to write it in a list, as Dave Peck has always said people like lists. 1.  Profile Picture - This really needs to be a photo of you, yourself, usually a recent head shot is best,  people like to connect with people.  Yes its fun to have a cartoon picture or an annoying jumping elephant @dhruvbhutani if you have been on twitter for a while and you really aren't concerned about getting more followers or people know who you are.  Even businesses need to have a picture of the person that is tweeting, unless they are Nokia or Amazon - a large organisation where many people use the twitter account,  these people usually sign of their tweets with their initials so that you know who you were talking to. 2. Your Bio - This is really important, do not leave it blank - [...]

Lost Kidz is a free app for iPhone and iPad which was developed by E-Scape and co founded by Stephen Ferm,  developed to enable parents to send out an alert to other parents in the area if their child goes missing. How does Lost Kidz work The Lost Kidz application has an alarm system so that when a child goes missing it alerts all the other parents with the application within a 10 mile radius that your child is missing and that they must look out for them, the alert includes their current photo and any relevant information about the child. The Alert creates an instant 'White Hot' safety zone around the location of a missing child, acting as a deterrent to anyone intent on harming a lone child and a safety net against the risk of accidental harm - as the the eyes of the Lost Kidz community will be watching and on alert. The Lost Kidz IOS app is a free application for the iPhone, iPod and iPad but it does cost to add your child to register your child, however this is only [...]

By | January 20th, 2013|Categories: Scams|Tags: , , , |

Account Exceeded Limit A Yahoo email phishing scam is being sent to our in-boxes again.  The email looks like it comes from Yahoo admin and informs you that you need to upgrade your account as you have exceeded your limit of 30GB or you will not be able to send or receive email. This is a phishing scam.   What is a phishing email We have seen many of these on social networks lately - there have been phishing scams on Twitter, Hotmail, Facebook, and many more, and the object of the hackers game is to fool you into giving them your personal information, such as username, password and even worse credit card details. These scams don't always come via Email it can be on instant messages or private messages on various networks. Once you give this information, they have control over your account. How can we tell its an email scam As luck would have it - I knew instantly that this was fake basically because I rarely use this account and never save anything there, I've probably used 30kb not [...]

Microsoft Windows Live Messenger – MSN is Closing down

By | January 13th, 2013|Categories: Internet Tools|Tags: , , , |

Microsoft's Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger as we used to know it -  is shutting down its instant message service on the 15th of March 2013 after 14 years. Email from The Messenger Team  We are retiring the existing Messenger service globally (except for mainland China where Messenger will continue to be available) and bringing the great features of Messenger and Skype together. Update to Skype and sign in using a Microsoft Account (same as your Messenger ID) and all your Messenger contacts will be at your fingertips. You'll be able to instant message and video chat with them just like before, and also discover new ways of staying in touch with Skype on your mobile and tablet. A sad day for the die-hard MSN User Msn Messenger was released originally in 1999 it was for many the first instant messaging service in direct competition with AOL instant messenger - it was very popular by users. I personally have friends that I met on ICQ that moved to MSN and stayed there - some friends now have Facebook or Twitter but [...]

The Rings of Orbis a science fiction fantasy RPG in a virtual Alien world

By | January 8th, 2013|Categories: Games|Tags: , , , , , |

The Rings of Orbis is a FREE online Science Fiction Game created by Author Philip-Jon Haarsma - now known as PJ Haarsma  - and his team to accompany his best selling series of books The Softwire series.  Books and gaming together are a fabulous formula to encourage and children to read!  How better to spark an interest in reading, that when you play game that is so interesting you have to find out more. I've been looking The Rings of Orbis and now even I want to read the books so I can get a full background to the game, and to find out more clues to help with the game - but I am a big kid! I am a super fan of this idea, probably as reading is so important and as a gamer but also because my own son, had a similar idea, he has written a book and planned a series, got some designs for a game, drawings and ideas and he started all this when he was around 12 years old when he was inspired by another series of [...]

Customer Service – The Best and the Worst

By | January 1st, 2013|Categories: Business|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Which company saved your life this Christmas  or which company will you not be using again because of their poor service? How was your customer experience in 2012 - I'd love to know. In this day and age, most of us at sometime order goods online, I did most of my Christmas shopping on-line, and there is a lot of trust involved, you need to know that the company will live up to their promises, that they are trustworthy and that you can contact them if there is a problem (Yes, problems do happen, we understand that, to be informed is all that customers ask).  It is helpful to check for reviews on businesses before you order but people seem more inclined to post a bad review for the company that has upset them, than the company that has done as expected. This is why an active social presence is so important, customers can see how businesses deal with people and problems. Some Brands really take advantage of this chance to boost brand loyalty. Even though some of them receive many complaints, at least they do try [...]
