Facebook Profile Viewer Scam – Who is looking at your timeline?

By | November 24th, 2012|Categories: Scams|Tags: , , , , , , , |

CC - http://www.flickr.com/photos/striatic/2192192956/ Can you see who is looking at your facebook profile I last wrote about this scam 2 years ago, or a scam just like it - as the above link shows - and still we have not learned our lesson. We are still clicking and sharing these applications.  Who is watching your Profile, who are my Facebook profile visitors, who is looking at your timeline. Someone suggested we are curious, I think we are paranoid. Is my ex looking at what I am saying on Facebook? Does that boy I fancy know I stalk him on facebook? HA, not me!   You know you can block people or set your profile up so that not everyone can view it or even find it. Facebook Profile Viewer Scam This latest one appears to be an app called Facebook Profile Viewers, which was shared by a "friend" on Facebook to 45 people that I can see. If he did that on purpose I can only assume that he thought it was real - but I would probably put money on it that [...]

Who needs a hug @hugtrainUSA #mentalhealth

By | November 20th, 2012|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , |

We all need a hug at some point, and the holidays are no exception.  Whether you celebrate Christmas and New Year or not, for some this can be a very lonely or stressful time, especially coupled with these dark nights and short days! It was with this in mind 4 years ago Arié Moyal started the annual HugTrain. This year the trip is in honour of the victims and survivors of the movie theatre shooting in Aurora Colorado. Arie Moyal is an Integrated Management Strategist and hug expert :)  - We met a few years ago via Social Media, he's an amazing character, very positive and encouraging.  I've always enjoyed Arie's frankness, straightforwardness and support - he's all for the social good and acts of kindness. What is the HugTrain The Hug Train is a rail trip that takes place around America spreading holiday cheer mental health awareness and hugs - and hopefully raise some money for mental health charities or charity along the way. http://www.flickr.com/photos/carbonnyc Why Hugs Hugging is good medicine, it transfers energy and gives the person hugged an emotional lift.  Scientists say [...]

How to easily clean up your Twitter stream

By | November 18th, 2012|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , |

Often people ask how best to safely clean up your twitter stream or how to manage your twitter followers. On twitter I like to follow back as many people as I can - as I personally don't feel its fair to expect someone to follow you if you aren't reciprocating, its like a two way street.  Also I do not like to unfollow people unless its for a good reason. For instance, they joined twitter but then decided it wasn't for them and stopped tweeting, or you realise that the person is actually a bot as they never @ mention anyone, and just throw out random tweets. Twit Cleaner  This is where Twit Cleaner comes in very useful - it will tell  you who these people are and allow you to choose who you want to unfollow, it does not twitter unfollow everyone automatically.  Twit Cleaner is free and very comprehensive. You first need to log into Twit Cleaner and allow it Auth with your twitter account, so that it can go through your followers. To do this click - Scan [...]

Curiosity – whats inside the cube – iPhone Application

By | November 8th, 2012|Categories: Mobile apps|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Curiosity - I hope it didn't kill the cat My son just showed me a Yogscast video about a new application on the iPhone that has been created by Peter Molyneux at 22cans - and has already taken the world by storm.  The servers have already collapsed under the stress of the popularity of this game. 22cans call it an experiment or a competition. Curiosity the cube When you first open the application it just says - Are you curious ! Its simple but its so exciting!!!!!!  Why is Curiosity so exciting? The aim of the game to click madly at the blocks or cubelets on a GIANT rotating cube to destroy them  all with everyone else that has the application at the same time to see what is inside the box ...... CRAZY .... gaming gone mad. Everyone that has the application is chipping away at the same box, some people are creating pictures, text messages and even QR codes while they chip away at the side of the box... This website shows some of the creations - many aren't very tasteful so don't look if [...]

Is your employer blocking social sites or asking for passwords?

By | November 3rd, 2012|Categories: Social Media|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

HR must embrace social I find it amazing that employers would ask for your Facebook Passwords. In one way I can understand why they would block Social Networks if they think you are wasting company time looking at tweets, but it doesn't have to be that way. Employer asked for Facebook Password This infographic from Compliance and Safety.com shows - Asking for an employers password is a clear invasion of privacy Will cause bad relations with bosses and staff Could initiate a discrimination lawsuit. It actually violates Facebook's privacy terms. With regard to blocking social sites at work, most people are not stupid enough to be on Facebook during work hours if it is not part of their own job but might like to catch up in their lunch hour or break times. However, even better it could be used for the companies benefit - IE talking about great things that are happening that day, an event at work, a new product -  This is free advertising! Amazingly school and colleges in the UK are known to block social networking sites for staff and [...]
